A huge congratulations to Siri Kolu on receiving the Finland Prize! Last night the Ministry of Education and Culture awarded the Finland Prize to eight artists. The annual prize is awarded in recognition of a distinguished career in arts, an exceptional artistic achievement, or a promising breakthrough. The prize was first awarded in 1993. This year each winner will receive 14,250 euros. The motivation highlighted: “Siri Kolu is a writer, dramaturg, director, actor and creative writing teacher who has published twenty works for children, young people and adults. She is best known for her children's book series The Robbersons. The first part of the series earned her the Finlandia Junior Prize for Children's Literature in 2010. It has also inspired a film and a theatre play. Kolu's works have been translated into more than 20 languages. For several years, the artistically multi-talented Kolu has been working persistently and effectively on literary education for children and young people, and he is a widely respected progressive figure in various literary networks. She was one of the co-creators of the experiential book talks presentation concept Literature Live. The Next Libris team visited dozens of schools and libraries with their dramatized book-talk presentations. Kolu is also a popular guest author at schools and libraries, where she regularly meets young readers.” Photo: © Sabrina Bqain/ Tammi
