SWETREE HIRES TO COMPLETE UNIQUE PILOT PROJECT 🌲 💡 In 2019, Umeå based SweTree Technologies AB began constructing a pilot plant for automated SE (Somatic Embryogenesis) seedling production, a process that allows a single seed to produce multiple embryos. ✨"By 2025, the plan is to decide on and start building a factory capable of producing 20 million seedlings per year, and we're now strengthening our team to prepare for this next phase. We are seeking a senior SE researcher and a lab/research engineer to enhance our team," says CEO Christofer Rhén. 🤝The project is a collaboration with forest industry giants Holmen AB, Stora Enso, Sveaskog, and Södra and the factory aims to produce 20 million seedlings annually. These partners plan to collectively own and determine the location of the inaugural factory. 🏭 "The factory will serve the entire Sweden, so it's a matter of finding a logistically smart location", explains Christofér. 🌍 The current project concerns spruce seedlings. SweTree, founded in 1999, will continue to develop the process for other tree species, both in the Nordic region and globally. 🎯 "We aim to commercialize this globally.
