🎈 We’re bringing out the balloons once again! 🎈 This time, we’re celebrating a significant milestone in Jacinto Sá’s innovative project, for which he is receiving the Attractive Innovation Project award from UU Innovation! 💐 Congratulations, Jacinto! Jacinto Sá, a professor at the Uppsala University, Department of Chemistry - Ångström, is pioneering a groundbreaking, transparent coating for window glass that can be applied to existing windows. This coating effectively blocks the wavelengths in solar radiation responsible for most indoor heat, thereby reducing the need for energy-intensive cooling. The technology aims to enhance the energy efficiency of buildings and vehicles without compromising architectural freedom or altering their current aesthetics. This recognition comes on the heels of an initial investment in Jacinto’s new venture, Duck Technologies. This financial support from Uppsala universitet Invest AB propels the project forward, with the next step involving larger-scale studies to demonstrate the impact on energy savings and indoor climate. Congratulations to our doctoral student, Princess R. Cabotaje, who won the runner-up prize in the Coimbra Group 3-Minute-Thesis competition. Her award-winning thesis, entitled: "Learning from Nature: Turning air into electricity", explains hydrogen's potential as a future green energy carrier. The presentation is based on an article published in Nature, entitled: "Structural basis for bacterial energy extraction from atmospheric hydrogen". Great work!
