It's always great to be recognised for the work we do - even better to be an outright winner! Thankyou Nordic Innovation for the recognition and Katherine Leung for representing us so impeccably.
Congratulations to the Nordic Health App Award 2024 winner! We are super excited to announce Swedish Visiba for winning the Nordic Health App Award 2024! From the jury motivation: Visiba is a patient-centric solution, utilizes AI to support healthcare professionals and is easily integrated into existing care systems. By reducing unnecessary ambulance dispatches and emergency visits, Visiba helps save resources and prioritizes the most urgent cases. This essential feature sets it apart from many other applications. Visiba was founded I 2014 and their aim was to make healthcare more accessible by enabling patients to easily and securely communicate with healthcare professionals online. Navigating AI Liability in Healthcare: Who's Responsible? Liability is something that surprisingly, isn't actually asked about that often, but it's a topic the team at Visiba UK will always raise. It's vital that anybody considering purchasing an AI tool understands who is liable for what. In this presentation from Vitalis earlier this year, our CMO Dr Annabelle Painter covers a multitude of topics relating to the challenges healthcare providers face when deploying AI. Annabelle breaks the challenges down into five distinct areas: *Rules *Infrastructure *Evaluation *People *Productivity If you only want to learn more about liability then the clip below should suffice. If you'd like to learn more about the full range of topics (if you've read this far then I suspect you might) the link to the full video is in the comments. One in five UK GPs use AI tools, specifically LLM-powered chatbots, in their work, according to a study from Uppsala University. Despite the fact that these tools have not necessarily been specifically designed for this use, GPs are turning to them for clinical support that can include generating documentation after patient appointments or for differential diagnosis suggestions. "There needs to be much clearer guidance to physicians who find use for these tools about their benefits and serious risks," says Charlotte Blease, PhD, the study's first author. We couldn't agree more but would actually go further and say that there needs to be more than that - with registration as a medical device a bare minimum. From data protection through to hallucinations and bias, the risks of using LLMs that have not gone through stringent testing for healthcare purposes are clear. As a provider of an AI-enabled tool for healthcare, we hold ourselves to an extremely high standard - you can learn more about our Responsible AI Principles here: https://lnkd.in/euUYwQDh https://lnkd.in/eg6tGH2X

We're thrilled to announce that in partnership with LCW: Leading the future of unscheduled care and NHS England - London Region, our NHS 111 Smart Triage Service has been shortlisted for an award in Digitising Patient Care. The aim was to develop a more resilient and scalable urgent care service for the population of London by safely removing unnecessary touchpoints, where value was not added, using clinically-validated AI (Visiba Triage). The project has exceeded expectations - outcomes include 38% fewer primary care referrals and 34% more cases closed with no further clinical resource requirement of the system. With a 4.4/5 patient feedback rating, patients seem happy too. #HSJ_Awards #HSJAwards

"The impact of AI in the next two years has been overestimated, but the impact of AI in the next five years has been underestimated" Hannah Gibson our Director of UK and Global Partners contributed to a recent HTN - Health Tech News piece on the health tech landscape. Her assessment that the hype will fall away and the system will look to real examples of meaningful and most importantly, safe deployment of AI, is spot on. There are multiple themes in the piece - from challenges in demonstrating value; budget constraints and short-term approaches; the challenges of deploying in the NHS and as Hannah highlighted, clinical safety. It's a long read, but worth a look. #healthtech #AI #innovation #nhs
The Institute of Fiscal Studies have estimated that a real spending increase of 3.6%/year could be needed to meet the NHS Workforce Plan. Up until 2008, NHS spending was indeed growing at about that rate. The next government is likely to struggle to meet the cash-terms increase needed to meet these targets, despite the major parties committing to the plan going forward. This gap may well be the catalyst for new ways of working across healthcare. How do we fill the gap? Cutting-edge technology is being piloted in the NHS, and is showing how these new models of care can improve quality and capacity, safely, whilst reducing workforce pressures. Examples from Skin Analytics, TORTUS, Flok Health, and Visiba UK, show the potential of AI in bridging this gap. This HTN - Health Tech News article discusses the opportunities for health technology in the next 12 months. It was a pleasure to contribute. https://lnkd.in/eCGH-P_X

Our CMO Dr Annabelle Painter's podcast for the Royal Society of Medicine is usually a 'must listen' - but this one should be of particular interest to those wanting to learn more about the AI-powered digital front door live in integrated urgent care. The Smart Triage that Dr James Ray refers to is, in fact, Visiba's AI-enabled triage solution. Early results show that the service has enabled a 37% reduction in escalation of care and a significant shift away from unnecessary touchpoints. We encourage you to listen to the podcast (link in comments) and if you'd like to learn more about our work in urgent care, then do please get in touch. #urgentcare #nhs #digitalhealth #AI #AITriage

We're really excited to be expanding our services in Norway with another new digital triage service. As ever, the team are working closely with the customer to ensure we've captured challenges and outcomes as we embark on delivery. Well done team Visiba Sverige and Visiba Norge.

Some fabulous insights from our CMO Dr Annabelle Painter. As ever, Annabelle raises many points and makes them well. We've come to expect no less.
Will AI replace clinicians? 🤖 👨⚕️ Whilst this is a nuanced question, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to think through the ‘No’ side of this debate and contribute to Pulse Today Some key thoughts: 1️⃣ Technological advancements have always led workforce change: New specialities, roles and ways of working. From radiology to anaesthetics to genetics. We should expect the same from AI. 2️⃣ These advancements have also always resulted in redundancy- not of clinicians, but of tasks. We can expect administrative tasks to be the first domain of AI task redundancy opening up the potential of ‘keyboard liberation’ in the consulting room. 3️⃣ AI cannot replace a workforce that doesn’t exist. There will be an estimated deficit of 10 million health workers by 2030. AI could help to plug the workforce gap and help to blunt burnout, if implemented effectively. 4️⃣ A new breed of AI-literate clinicians will be essential to implement, critically appraise, govern, and create effective clinical AI. 5️⃣ The biggest threat to clinicians’ jobs is not AI, but clinicians who can use AI. I’d recommend becoming one of them. Full article: https://lnkd.in/ejXh9YA2
