L25 Electric proves to be a fine vintage at Ästad Vineyard 🍇 Ästad Vingård is one of Sweden’s largest vineyards, and its restaurant has been awarded a Michelin Green Star for its commitment to reducing environmental impact. Since last autumn, Ästad has taken these ambitions even further by introducing a Volvo L25 Electric. This electric compact loader supports the vineyard with everything from waste transport to snow clearing – all without disturbing guests with noise or emissions. "We’re super satisfied! It’s exactly what we hoped for – versatile and able to work a full day," says Henrik Carlsson, Head of Projects and Operations at Ästad Vingård. #VolvoCE #Volvoce_emea #electricmachine

This week we have been speaking at the Investing in African Mining Indaba conference in Cape Town, South Africa. It has been a great opportunity to share our commitment to more sustainable ways of working. “Our solutions are tailored to regional needs, reflecting varying challenges and energy infrastructure globally. For instance, partnerships in Africa focus on deploying connected machines that save fuel, reduce emissions, and enhance safety, achieving potential savings of 1.5 million liters of fuel annually in a fleet of 50 haulers”, says Mats Sköldberg, Head of Technology at Volvo CE. Our Head of Public Affairs, Tora Leifland talked about how cost can be a barrier to change but that new business models as well as public policy are ways to address it. “New technologies are more expensive initially but experience shows the green premium will go down over time”, she says. Joakim Arndorw, Head of Sales Region International, talked about our strong commitment to working with safety on work sites. “Achieving Zero Harm is a multi-dimensional goal that combines different technologies, approaches, and partnerships. We design our machines with operator safety as a top priority, especially considering the challenging terrains of mining sites”, he says. At Volvo CE, we believe that the future of mining is not only about technological advancements but also about strong partnerships that drive real change by working together.

Did you know that steel makes up around 60% of an articulated hauler’s total mass? That’s why we’re excited to announce the introduction of low carbon emission steel into serial production of all articulated haulers built in Braås, Sweden. In this first phase, we will reduce our total CO₂ emissions in the cradle to gate scope by over 13,000 tons annually, a 5% cut - and another concrete step toward our goal of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. As availability grows, we’ll continue increasing the share of low carbon emission steel, driving industry-wide change toward more sustainable materials. Learn more: https://bit.ly/4jH04Sy
