I Australien har man beslutat att GMS systerinitiativ Genomics Australia ska bli en myndigheten inom Departementet för hälsa och äldreomsorg. Inte säkert att det här är rätt väg för oss i Sverige, men det är helt tydligt att det behövs ett mandat och en gemensam överenskommelse mellan regionerna och staten för att driva förändring inom precisionsmedicin.
On Friday the Australian Government made an important announcement about the new Genomics Australia, a national body that will provide leadership, coordination and expertise so all Australians can reap the benefits of cutting-edge genomic research and technologies. The Australian Government has committed ongoing funding for #GenomicsAustralia, including over $30 million for its first four years of operation. The new body begins on 1 July 2025. Genomics Australia will work with states and territories to implement an updated National Health Genomics Policy Framework. It will be a body within the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, with a commissioner who will provide expert advice to Government on health genomics, supported by expert advisory committees.
