We are proud to announce that the third firearms destruction event by IM Swedish Development Partner- Humanium Metal in the USA took place yesterday in Falmouth, Maine. 🇺🇸❌🔫The complementary destruction events will continue throughout June and will cover most of the state! In collaboration with local police departments, the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Maine Gun Safety Coalition; Humanium Metal initiative is working tirelessly towards a peaceful future☮️ This Gun Giveback Day is more than an event; it’s a movement that showcases our collective efforts to repurpose firearms into tools for community-building, youth opportunities, art, and sustainable development.💫💡 Our efforts yesterday were mirrored by awareness-raising events hosted by Humanium Metal at Järvaveckan in Stockholm, Sweden too. 🇸🇪❌🔫It is often unknown that Sweden suffers from shootings linked to organized crime almost daily. These activities highlight the diverse and innovative ways we are combating gun violence globally, using strategies like the Humanium Metal microphone to amplify voices and engage politicians on unjust legislation.🎤📣 Yesterday's events serve as powerful reminders that every action contributes to a larger wave of change. 🌍💫By working together, we can dismantle violence and pave the way toward peace and prosperity, ensuring safety and security for all. Together, we make a difference—one firearm, one community, one life at a time.🙏🏽🔥

We are inspired and hopeful as we witness the rise of more initiatives outside our own that tap into the transformative energy of youth in combating gun violence. Projects like Project Unloaded, recently highlighted in collaboration with The Guardian and The Trace serve as shining examples of this impactful movement, similar to our work at Humanium Metal. ✨ We strive to empower communities to address gun violence through tangible action. By engaging with local stakeholders, including youth, and providing resources and support, we enable them to take ownership of initiatives aimed at reducing gun violence and promoting safer environments. Initiatives like that empowers teenagers to challenge the status quo and advocate for change, our collaboration with communities such as in Maine and Philadelphia connected to educational and artistic institutions empowers young individuals to be catalysts for positive transformation, ultimately contributing to safer and more resilient communities. 🏘️ The journey of empowerment and education undertaken by youth involved in these initiatives is a testament to the potential for change when coupled with meaningful action. By harnessing the energy, passion, and creativity of young people, together with likeminded organisations we are paving the way for safer, more resilient communities where gun violence is no longer accepted as the neither norm nor fate. Seize the Opportunity to Attend to the Report Presentation on Gender-based Violence with Firearms in #Mexico !    You now have the chance to hear about an important report, displaying the situation of gun violence in Mexico which was developed as a response to the global call for the reduction and eradication of gun violence. Mexico is a country marked by a crisis of such violence since the beginning of the war on drugs. Since then, we have seen a steady increase in the presence of firearms along with an increase in the homicide rate of men, women and LGBTIQ+ people.    With updated data, the report analyses the different ways in which the presence of firearms impacts the lives of women, LGTBIQ+ people and orphaned children; from the public space to the most intimate.    The report will be presented by experienced and passionate people:   Laura Carlsen, Carina Solmirano, Gilberta Mendoza, Montserrat Martínez, Daniela Martínez, Sara San Martín      WHEN?  March 11th 2024  8 hrs. Indtægterne fra humanium går til at investere i områder, der er påvirket af væbnet vold. Disse investeringer laves med henblik på at bryde med en ond cirkel af vold og fattigdom. Uret et et samarbejde mellem TRIWA og Humanium Metal. På sin vis er uret upcycling i yderste potens. At genanvende et våben og lave det om til en fredelig hverdagsgenstand. Det er vigtigt fordi verden bliver et bedre sted for hver gang den bliver et våben fattigere. Her er lidt fakta: - 875 millioner håndvåben er i global cirkulation. - 200.000 mennesker bliver dræbt af våben hvert år. - Mere end 2000 mennesker skades af skud hver dag. Siden 2016 har folkene bag Humanium Metal indsamlet 12.000 illegale våben, som er blevet smeltet om. H.H Dalai Lama har udtalt sådan her om humanium: “Humanium Metal is a laudable effort at making this world more peaceful through concrete human action”.
