NFT communities have quickly become a place where I can find my people and my tribe. A recent peaceful 3-course dinner with my wife was interrupted by chaos as my phone was flooded with alerts about an NFT trader exploit, sparking panic as friends warned of a potential hack on my wallet. In it was a Mutant Ape valued at 6ETH and 5ETH in Apecoin. Fortunately, my loss was limited to the Mutant Ape. However, the ensuing day and a half was fraught with mental anguish as negotiations with the hacker ensued, aiming to secure the return of the ape. Amid this turmoil, support poured into my inbox from the community, including an offer from sebbsssss at ARC to replace my lost mutant, which I kindly turned down. Thankfully, I eventually got the Mutant back. But the predicament truly showed me that when sh*t happens, people band together and help each other out. That's the beauty of community. Through my interactions with fellow apes (BAYC/MAYC), particularly those in Singapore, I began to envision the potential of collective action. This inspired the creation of the Bored Ape Singapore Club, driven by a desire to connect rather than profit. Initially hesitant to mint Pyxis (now Fyrian), I was swayed by Elroy's vision and the ethos of ARC. Beyond mere Web3 connections, ARC goes so much further than that. Here are traditional Web2 founders with a community that’s very well connected throughout Asia going through the trenches together and growing as a group. That's where you develop the deepest bonds and build trust. As a Stellar within this ecosystem, I cannot overstate the opportunities it presents. You get to meet a lot of people that you otherwise wouldn’t have met. I'm sure if you add someone on the ARC app and say that you want to meet or share a conversation, these people would be more open and receptive, and I think that's super powerful. The ARC app serves as a conduit for meaningful exchanges, where requests for conversation or collaboration are met with openness and receptivity. This inclusivity is a testament to the immense power of community. Xeer, Founder, Bored Ape Singapore Club ===== Stellars of ARC is a series that showcases the diverse stories and perspectives of individuals that ARC is bringing together as a unique members-only community.

Co-Founder at Wenti Labs | Trustworthy AI Agents for Construction Teams | Ex-AWS | Ex-Uber

‘The best way to predict the future is to create it’ I’m quite fortunate to be part of the ARC the Community, meeting other founders who are building cool stuff. That’s the biggest perks for me, being surrounded by incredibly driven and smart founders - a group of folks who are persistent, resilient, and committed to create a future as they envisioned it, even when faced with doubters. Building a startup is hard. This is my second go at it and I’m glad for the group of folks here I know I could tap on for feedback, advise or just lend an ear. When I was in the corporate world, working in larger teams made it easier to exchange ideas and get feedback. As a founder, that’s not as easy. I have to make all the tough decisions, recognising that I can’t always have all the information to for the perfect decision. I have to be (as Amazonian put it) ‘Are right, a lot’. We’re all here trying to build the future we want to see, bit by bit. It’s not easy, but I believe it’s going to be worth it. Here’s to making things happen! 🚀 Big thanks to Shane for hosting us at the beautiful 33 CLUB Deeps D. Sharon Lourdes Paul Pavel Bains Edison L. Brand & Marketing Strategist | Web2 《》Web3

"Most people overestimate what they can do in 1 year, and underestimate what they can do in 10 years." - Bill In crypto or Web3, things move 10x faster so I'm going to tweak that quote a little. "We often overestimate what we can achieve in 1 month, and underestimate what we can do in 1 year." 1 year back in 2023, we were barely 2 months from the disastrous FTX saga. Confidence and trust was non-existent, much of the passion for the 'growth' potential for crypto had fizzled out and many people exited Web3 completely. Despite the market uncertainties, the founders and the team continue to hold firmly to the vision we have for ARC. We spent the last 12 months building, listening, learning and growing. Today, we're a 600-strong community (double of where we were at 1 year ago). ~44% of members are founders or builders of various companies, projects and communities in the space. We're spread across 41 cities globally, with a strong representation in Asia. We organised more than 50 physical events for our members and 4 different brand and marketing campaigns including a major rebrand and an exclusive phygital drop in November that sold out in 4 hours. All that would not have been possible without clarity about the kind of community we are trying to build, the 'why' and the reasons for building ARC this way and a strong belief that entities like ARC will be the new startup model for the new digital era. Tonight, on 31 Jan, 10PM (UTC+8), our CEO will be doing a Twitter Spaces to share more about his thoughts on Community-As-A-Brand entities, how blockchain and NFTs give us the tools to empower these entities and their members, and why they'll outperform your traditional Web2 FAANG startups: https://bit.ly/3HZjNeB If you're curious to understand more about our approach to community-building, Elroy also published a longform essay last week that's been shared widely by our members that you can read here: https://bit.ly/3OnjePb [If you're someone in marketing / advertising / branding, as a fellow industry professional, I strongly encourage you to make 2024 your year of deep-dive into Web3 and all its multi-faceted dimensions. As someone who's naturally curious and feels energised when exposed to new innovations, new thinking and new people, I promise this will be a very rewarding learning journey. I genuinely believe that this is the future of the world and it will affect every single part of our lives. You need to KNOW what's coming, so you can be there to inform, advise and ideate with your clients when the time is right.]

Being a founder is a lonely journey. When you’re an employee, your task is very defined. As an engineer, I didn’t care what the marketing team was doing or how our finances were being handled as long as I got my pay on-time. But as a founder, I have to think broadly across the whole business, to fix things that aren’t working and to make sure we keep moving and growing as a team. There aren’t any supervisors to learn from and there isn’t a textbook answer to everything. The fastest way to drown is to stop swimming or moving. That same logic applies to startups. As a founder, we have to set the direction and make it work. Sometimes the direction is right, sometimes it's wrong. But what’s most important is that you cannot not move just because you are afraid of making mistakes. You have to move. My driving force in this journey is largely influenced by my personal experiences, from my frustrations of wiring money internationally through banks to the day I realised that cryptocurrency would be the future of cross-border payments. This entrepreneurial path for me is about more than just business; it's about shaping a future where financial transactions are more efficient, accessible, and inclusive. The motivation to co-found Suberra Protocol and BasedApp is very much derived from this commitment. With Suberra Protocol, we’re helping merchants accept crypto payments for their online business. Merchants can integrate with us and accept crypto payments using our hosted checkout page. And for consumers, BasedApp provides users with a zero crypto-to-fiat conversion without fees and allow them to spend and use their crypto whenever and wherever. There are many people in crypto and many extremely talented individuals who are trying to grow and learn together. I think that’s what excites me about ARC, the way we exchange ideas, collaborate and find out ways that we can grow as a community. I get to learn from other people working in different sectors and we have a common space for us to come together and exchange ideas. I'm new here and excited to get to know everyone better over time!
