About us
Atomionics is a Singapore based VC-backed startup building quantum sensors for Navigation and Resource Exploration. We measure gravity, acceleration, and rotation 1000x better than the state of the art. Atomionics sensors can build a complete map of the underground, thus help pinpoint underground structures like tunnels and bunkers, and predict earthquakes, provide precise navigation, and build a universal positioning system that works everywhere – underground, underwater, and even in space. We have deep expertise in bringing complex technologies from a lab environment to the dynamic real world. At Atomionics we like to cultivate a casual and friendly environment. We are a small focused group in a high-energy environment. The core of what we are building is called cold atom interferometry, where we cool down atoms to micro Kelvin temperatures by shooting lasers at them. Our team has over 30 years of combined relevant research experience. This allows us to measure the forces acting on them precisely. Due to the complexity of our work, our employees get to interact with other interdisciplinary domains such as Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, and Software Engineering. Our company likes to treat our work as a “gym for our minds”. In addition, we are backed by some fantastic investors from the private and public sectors, such as Wavemaker, SGInnovate, Capvista, 500startups, and other prominent angels.

Meet Michael Li, our newest physics intern at Atomionics. With a strong background in optical devices and quantum mechanics, he’s excited to apply his knowledge in a practical setting. Most of his hands-on experience comes from his master's project, where he successfully set up the first atomic memory using warm Cs atoms in his lab—a major achievement that deepened his expertise in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics. When he isn’t busy helping us change the world, you’ll often find Michael in the pool. He used to swim competitively, specializing in the 100m backstroke, with an impressive best time of 58.76 seconds. These days, he swims just to stay fit, but his passion for the sport remains strong. We also asked Michael to share his favorite meme because, well, who doesn’t love memes? Check out her response! If you would like to work on interesting and challenging projects, come join the Atomionics team! Drop a message to Anirban Manna (Ben) to explore internship opportunities with us. #PhysicstIntern #QuantumPhysicsInternship #SingaporeInternship #Atomionics

Meet Chetan Sriram Madasu, one of our talented physicists at Atomionics. Chetan earned his PhD in atomic, molecular, and optical (AMO) physics at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, where he gained hands-on experience in optics, laser cooling, and experimental technology critical to building atomionics hardware. He’s well-versed in numerical simulations of atom-light interactions and matter wave interferometry, which is key to analyzing data from Atomionics’ gravimeters. Beyond work, Chetan is a man of many interests. When he’s not diving into the world of physics, you can find him swimming, hiking, or experimenting in the kitchen. He’s also passionate about music and enjoys both listening and playing. Curious about his academic work? You can check out his publications on his website or Google Scholar. If you’re interested in working on fascinating and impactful projects, we’d love to hear from you! Drop a message to Anirban Manna (Ben) to explore opportunities at Atomionics.
