Australian and Singaporean women's organisations have a long history of exchanges. In 1963, Ms Oh Ewe Im, program secretary of the Singapore YWCA (Young Women's Christian Association), undertook a six-month tour of Australia and New Zealand to study the YWCA's work in both countries. Here, Ms Oh joins two women at the National Headquarters of the Australian YWCA in Melbourne to inspect gifts prepared for a children's Christmas party. #Heritage60 is a year-long series celebrating 60 years of Singapore-Australia bilateral ties in 2025 by looking back at our shared history of friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Did you know the longest serving Prime Ministers of Australia and Singapore have met each other? Here, Singapore PM Lee Kuan Yew meets with Australian PM Sir Robert Menzies at Parliament House in Canberra in 1965. Upon Singapore's independence, Sir Robert quickly recognised the new country and pledged to continue close and friendly relations. The two PMs laid a foundation for the strong bilateral relationship that Australia and Singapore continue to enjoy today. #Heritage60 is a yearlong series celebrating 60 years of Singapore-Australia bilateral ties in 2025 by looking back at our shared history of friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Meet Daniel Teo, the first to kick off our 60 for 60 project! Daniel’s relationship with Australia started 63 years ago when he studied at Coburg High and graduated from the University of Melbourne. Daniel played a key role in raising the funds to build The Singapore Theatre — a Lecture Theatre at the University of Melbourne School of Design. He still has very strong links to Australia, with all four of his children following in his footsteps and studying in Melbourne. This year Australia and Singapore celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations. We will Celebrate 60 Years of Friendship — showcasing the long-running and deep relationship between Australia and Singapore and highlight the people-to-people links formed across the decades. Our 60 for 60 project highlights the unique stories of 60 people who have contributed to the rich fabric of the Australia-Singapore relationship. Follow us, as we share more stories. #60for60 #australia #singapore #SG60

It's been a huge week for the Australia-Singapore relationship!
Singapore and Australia share a strong trade and investment relationship and a vision for a prosperous region 🇸🇬🇦🇺 At the Singapore Australia Joint Ministerial Committee this week, we affirmed the deep strategic trust between our nations and looked towards the next 10 years of our partnership. I look forward to working with Singapore to further strengthen our trade and economic links, and transition to net zero. The Australian Government is investing $75 million into Singapore’s FAST-P initiative, under the Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility. This investment will support the clean energy transition and infrastructure development across Southeast Asia, and open more opportunities for Australian businesses in the region. The Albanese Labor Government is committed to an international trade and investment agenda that delivers growth and prosperity for all Australians. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eMgW8v6B Richard Marles
