Professor Peter Harrison, a speaker at the Blue Eco Summit 2024, has been featured in The Straits Times. He spoke on the topic of coral larval restoration at the conference and the article further elaborates what he shared. In it, he discussed his pioneering work on his restoration method, which involves producing genetically unique baby corals to enhance the resilience of coral reefs. This approach, often referred to as "Coral IVF," optimises the natural cycle of coral spawning and has shown promising results in restoring degraded reef systems. What an incredible 3 days we've had at Blue Water EduFest 2024! 🌊 We kicked off with the Blue Eco Summit, where distinguished speakers from various fields in ocean conservation shared their expertise, discussing topics regarding Deep Sea Mining, High Seas Treaty, and Blue Carbon. We are also honoured to have Her Deepness, Dr. Sylvia Earle, who gave a powerful keynote, reminding us all of our responsibility to protect our only blue planet. On the second night, the Blue Water Heroes Awards Dinner was a time for celebrating and recognising our 10 fearless eco-champions from across Southeast Asia. Congratulations to our winners Rose Huizenga of Coral Catch in 1st place, Leon Boey of Livingseas Asia - Livingseas Foundation in 2nd place, and Ng Lee Kiang of Young Nautilus in 3rd place! We're proud of all our 10 finalists for their dedication to ocean conservation, through restoration, education, community engagement, waste management, and empowerment. Wrapping up with a collective effort from our Blue Water community, the meaningful ONE15 Clean Up at East Coast Park saw the hardworking volunteers collect 6 bags of trash amounting up to 18.7kg, including cigarette butts, plastic wrappers, tissue paper, styrofoam pieces, and lots of confetti - the last of which was gruelling to pick up. A special thanks to DPM Heng Swee Keat for joining us as our Guest of Honour! We hope this experience inspired everyone to be more mindful of our waste. Last Saturday, Jonathan Sit, our Regional General Manager, Marina Division, of SUTL Enterprise, had the opportunity to speak on MONEY FM 89.3 about our upcoming Blue Water EduFest (BWE)! 🎙️ During this insightful interview with hosts Glenn van Zutphen and Neil Humphreys, Jonathan highlighted our events commitment to ocean conservation, discussing how such conservation events play a crucial role in raising awareness and inspiring action.
