Cistri had the privilege last week to host The Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) on its visit to Singapore. The visit provided an opportunity to the RCU team to engage with key organizations, including the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA) and the Singapore Land Authority (SLA). These engagements provided the RCU delegation insights into Singapore’s forward-thinking approaches to sustainable development, land management, and urban planning. Subsequently, the Urbis and Cistri teams held a workshop with the RCU delegation to explore ways of applying the insights gained to shape AlUla’s own strategies for responsible growth and heritage preservation. A big thank you to URA, and SLA for their warm hospitality and for sharing their expertise. Collaboration and knowledge exchange are key to building the cities and communities of the future! #RCU #AlUla #UrbanPlanning #GeospatialInnovation #SmartCities #SustainableDevelopment #Cistri #URA #SLA #Singapore Navdeep Hanjra, Momen Eid, Rahul Mittal, Karen Wright, Edwin L., David Larkin, Heather Banerd, Melissa L., Paul Hardyman, Marc Beattie, Sonali Mehta Ram

Cistri Director, Rahul Mittal, had the recent opportunity to share key insights from the Jakarta TOD-POD implementation project that the Urbis-led team of global and local experts delivered last year for KIAT - Indonesia Australia Partnership for Infrastructure. Rahul emphasised the need to build on the momentum of public transport initiatives such as MRT Jakarta and Transjakarta while drawing lessons from leading global cities like Singapore and Tokyo. Key takeaways: ✅ Integrate land use and transport planning for sustainable urban growth. ✅ Design TODs around transit stations, ensuring multi-modal connectivity wherever possible. ✅ Recognise the potential of TODs to drive district and city regeneration. ✅ Prioritise walkability through PODs to create more accessible and liveable spaces. ✅ Put vulnerable commuters at the centre of TOD planning by embedding GEDSI principles. He urged the participants to apply these principles, to create a more inclusive, efficient, and vibrant Jakarta. You can read more on the project here: https://lnkd.in/ghRVCdKj

Thank you OH! Open House for inviting Cistri Associate Director Melissa Luki to speak about the economic drivers of successful adaptive reuse in Singapore's heritage buildings, as part of the panel discussion on "Reinterpreting Colonial Spaces: Bridging History, Heritage and the Present". The event, organised in partnership with Singapore Heritage Society, was part of "The Eye and The Tiger": an art exhibition and experience held at one of Singapore's historic colonial bungalows. The event was part of Singapore Art Week 2025. Using insights from big data on human movement, Melissa shared insights on what drives visitation to heritage-led leisure and cultural precincts to make them thriving destinations. #cityshaper #SGArtWeek #SAW2025 #ArtTakesOver

Edwin L., Associate Director at Cistri, was recently featured in The Straits Times, sharing his insights on the importance of conserving Singapore's modern architectural heritage, and the potential factors that will impact the financial viability of the redevelopment in light of the Urban Redevelopment Authority's (URA) offer. The URA has offered bonus gross floor area for the redevelopment of Golden Mile Tower, provided its iconic cinema block is conserved, highlighting the significance of preserving socially and historically important spaces. At Cistri, we understand the delicate balance between preserving heritage and ensuring financial viability in redevelopment projects. Our expertise lies in navigating these challenges to achieve sustainable and successful outcomes. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gAbUBQts
