Let's talk about 2nd place. My entire career, the end goal was always to be first. First in market, first in market-share, first in the leaderboards, etc... With RIFTSTORM, the plan is to go for #2. We've built RIFTSTORM to be the sort of game you come back to year and year, play over and over again with friends, and never feel like you've missed a beat or are adversely punished for not dedicating a lifetime to one game. Positioning RIFTSTORM as the #2 game cooperative game means we aren't beholden to the passing fads of the AAA release schedule. Designing RIFTSTORM as the #2 game means that we design for gameplay sessions that fit to everyone's schedule - anytime, anywhere. Building the RIFTSTORM world for the #2 positioning means that we take the time to build emotional connections and insights directly with our users - building an IP that people can come back to over and over. We're putting that thesis to the test now on Steam, with a free two-week demo of our Alpha build. So far, we're seeing consistent CCU counts across our first 24 period.
