Grayscale Investments has made a surprising move to withdraw its 19b-4 application for its Ether (ETH) futures ETF, just three weeks before the SEC would be forced to make a decision on it. Bloomberg #ETF analyst, James Seyffart expressed confusion as to why Grayscale would withdraw now, when the SEC will make a decision on VanEck's application on 23rd May 2024. Binance's founder and former chief executive, Changpeng Zhao 'CZ' should spend three years in prison after pleading guilty to violating laws against federal sanctions and money laundering, says the US Department of Justice. Given the magnitude of CZ's willful violation of US law, a 36 months sentence is warranted, the prosecutors wrote in the filing to the US district court. Despite agreeing to pay a $50 million fine, the US authorities are preparing to give a sentence to CZ on 30th April 2024. #binance #crypto #cz

Hong Kong regulators have reportedly approved the launch of spot #Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds (ETFs) on Monday, following the US moves earlier this year to bring these products to market. The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) of Hong Kong has approved three ETF providers. However, although these asset managers have received approval, they have not yet launched the ETFs. Hong Kong's approval marks a milestone as Asia's first jurisdiction to embrace spot Bitcoin ETFs and first in the world to approve an #Ethereum ETF. The Coinbase-supported #Base network has now surpassed #Arbitrum as the leading Ethereum layer-2 network by active addresses this month. Base has seen over 1.48 million new active addresses over the first nine days of April, narrowly beating out Arbitrum One with 1.43 million active addresses, according to data from growthepie.
