💡 On 31 October 2024, the MEF issued Prakas 738 outlining the rules and procedures for the management of collection of Transportation Tax. The Transportation Tax applies to all owners of “means of transportation”, covering all types of vehicles, including ships, ferries, boats, canoes, motorboats, cars, trailer trucks, trailers, semi-trailers, motorcycles, tricycles, tractors, and similar machinery. 📥 The article discusses Prakas 738, issued by Cambodia's Ministry of Economy and Finance, which introduces new rules, tax categories, and procedures for the Transportation Tax, effective January 1, 2025. DFDL Cambodia was delighted to co-host a Breakfast Talk on “Annual Compliance Obligations – Legal, Tax, and Accounting.” with The American Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia Association (AmCham) Cambodia. 📢 On November 26, 2024, our expert advisors—Vajiravann Chamnan, Tax Partner; Michelle Cielo, CPA Cielo, Accounting Director; and Raksa Chan, Senior Consultant—shared insights into the annual compliance requirements. Raksa Chan delivered a detailed presentation on corporate and labor compliance, emphasizing key annual filings and labor responsibilities. Vajiravann Chamnan offered an extensive overview of tax obligations, deadlines, and annual tax compliance requirements. 📢 On November 21, 2024, DFDL Cambodia co-hosted an engaging Breakfast Talk at Raintree Cambodia with AmCham Cambodia on “Updates to Transfer Pricing Regulations in Cambodia.” Our in-house experts, Vandana Vijayakumar, Transfer Pricing Director, highlighted key updates to Cambodia's transfer pricing regulations, including the introduction of Prakas 574 effective FY 2025 while emphasizing the importance of accurate Transfer Pricing Documentation (TPD). Vajiravann Chamnan, Tax Partner, highlighted challenges in transfer pricing compliance, such as inadequate documentation and evidence of arm's length behavior, penalties for non-compliance, and strategies to reduce risks and handle audits. After the presentations, the speakers also had a very insightful panel discussion skillfully moderated by Diberjohn Balinas, DFDL's Regional Tax Director.
