Our Assistant Chief Executive Xin Wei Low and colleagues hosted an industry workshop on Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) and their role in Singapore's energy transition. The workshop welcomed 50 attendees from the energy industry and institutes of higher learning. We had experts from NARI Group Corporation, GRIDWIZ and Integrate To Zero to share valuable insights on how these systems can support our power infrastructure and benefit consumers. As Singapore works towards its net-zero goal by 2050, we will see more distributed energy resources like solar panels and energy storage systems across the island. VPPs can play an important role by aggregating these resources to function as a single power generation source, thereby better supporting our power grid’s reliability. Is your business interested in participating in our regulatory sandbox for VPPs? Our colleagues had a literally fruitful day out with children from Children's Wishing Well, our adopted charity. We took the children grocery shopping for their family and to learn about budgeting and healthier eating habits. Watch as LIYANA GAFOOR from our External Relations Department, guides a child through the supermarket aisles to pick out groceries for her family! #EMAsg #CSR

Singapore’s first hydrogen-compatible power plant saw its gas turbine installed at the Keppel Sakra Cogen Plant. This plant will play an important role in our energy transition to a low-carbon future. Congratulations to Keppel Ltd. on this significant milestone!
Keppel celebrated a significant milestone with the installation of the state-of-the-art gas turbine at the Keppel Sakra Cogen Plant, Singapore’s first hydrogen-compatible cogeneration power plant. The turbine will enable the 600 MW advanced combined cycle gas turbine power plant to be the most energy-efficient plant of its kind in Singapore when it commences operations in the first half of 2026. The Plant will be capable of generating significantly less CO2 than that of Singapore’s average operating efficiency for the equivalent power generated. The turbine installation ceremony was officiated by Guest-of-Honour Mr Richard Lim, Chairman of the Energy Market Authority (EMA), who was accompanied by Mr Danny Teoh, Chairman of Keppel, Mr Loh Chin Hua, CEO of Keppel, Ms Cindy Lim, CEO of Keppel’s Infrastructure Division, and Mr Takuya Murase, President and CEO, GTCC Business Division, Energy Systems, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. In another milestone, the Plant’s Main Control Building has become the first on Jurong Island to attain the BCA Green Mark Zero Energy Certification from Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority. The Main Control Building features top-tier energy efficiency, with deployment of on-site renewable energy and intelligent energy management strategies. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gBvqBaDb

Our Chief Executive Kok Keong Puah Kok Keong and colleagues shared the benefits of EMA’s Demand Response (DR) programme at the recent IdeasFest 2.0. This is an event organised by the Public Service Division for government agencies to showcase innovative projects. Our DR programme incentivises businesses to reduce or shift their electricity consumption during peak demand periods. This enhances the reliability of Singapore’s power system and reduces its overall system cost. Between 2023 and mid-2024, the programme has resulted in over $700 million in savings for electricity buyers in the Singapore Wholesale Electricity Market. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sweden's Ministry of Climate and Enterprise on energy collaboration. This will include key areas such as advancing High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technologies, developing transmission infrastructure, and to facilitate deeper knowledge exchanges on ammonia and hydrogen, nuclear safety, and cooperation to accelerate Singapore’s decarbonisation pathways. This partnership will contribute to our efforts to advance the energy transition and strengthen energy resiliency. The MOU was signed at the State Visit of Sweden to Singapore. Our Director of External Relations Jonathan Goh participated in a panel to share more about Singapore's energy transition and how we can work with Sweden to strengthen regional interconnectivity and the adoption of clean energy technologies.
