Regulations on leave regime under the latest Labor Law you need to know Vacation is a key employee benefit regulated by the 2019 Labor Code. Employees with one year of service are entitled to annual leave based on work conditions: 12 days for normal environments, 14 days for underage or disabled workers, and 16 days for those in especially hazardous jobs. For employees with less than a year of service, leave is calculated proportionally. Annual leave increases with seniority, adding one day for every five years of employment. Travel time exceeding two days for annual leave can extend the total leave period. Employees can negotiate leave timing, which may be taken in segments or combined, up to a maximum of three years. Employees are entitled to a salary advance equivalent to their leave days when taking vacation before payday. Employers who deny leave requests in violation of regulations face fines between 10 and 20 million VND for individuals and 20 to 40 million VND for organizations, highlighting strict enforcement of labor laws to uphold worker rights. #AsiaRisk #Regulation #Vietnam Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. Around 670,000 SIM cards and 130,000 IMEIs linked to cybercrimes have been blocked by the Indian government as of November 15. Junior home minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar outlined measures to combat cybercrime, including a system for identifying and blocking international spoofed calls tied to criminal activities. Telecom service providers have been directed to block fraudulent calls associated with scams like the "FedEx scams" and impersonation of government or police officials. Additionally, the 'Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System', launched in 2021 under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), allows for immediate reporting of financial frauds to prevent fund misappropriation. So far, over ₹3,431 crore has been saved from being siphoned off, thanks to more than 990,000 complaints submitted through this system. #AsiaRisk #CyberAttacksandDataLoss #India Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. Mirae Asset Global Investments, a leading Korean asset manager, is rapidly expanding in India to leverage the country's strong demand for Korean businesses. The company, which began operations in Mumbai in 2006, now manages over 30 trillion won ($21.3 billion) in assets and has also launched a unit in Dubai to target the Middle Eastern market. Shrinivas Khanolkar, head of products, marketing, and corporate communications at Mirae Asset Investment Managers in India, noted significant shifts in India's banking and payment processing, largely due to mobile banking. He anticipates around 354 million households will drive growth by 2030. With a median age of 33 and a corporate tax rate of 22%, India offers promising investment prospects, particularly in the automobile, travel, education, and wedding sectors. To strengthen its presence, Mirae Asset Securities launched a unit in 2018 as the first Korean brokerage in India. The firm plans to acquire Sharekhan for $370 million, with the deal expected to close by year-end. This acquisition could raise Mirae Asset Securities' retail accounts in India from 2 million to 5 million. #AsiaOperations #Demographics #SouthKorea Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. A Ukrainian delegation led by Defence Minister Rustem Umerov is in South Korea seeking arms to aid Kyiv in its conflict with Russia. The team is engaging with South Korea's National Security Adviser, Shin Won-sik, to discuss military support. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy had previously indicated plans to formally request artillery and air defense systems from Seoul. The Ukrainian officials were expected to meet with South Korean counterparts soon, although the defense ministry did not confirm their arrival. While there have been calls from Western nations and Ukraine for South Korea to supply lethal weapons, the country has primarily focused on non-lethal support, such as demining tools. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul indicated that the government is considering all scenarios regarding military aid, especially with North Korea's backing of Russia. He emphasized the need to monitor North Korean troop involvement in Russia and any exchanges between Pyongyang and Moscow. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #India Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. Russia: “May deploy mid-range missiles in Asia”… Will North Korea be a candidate? Russia has signaled the possible deployment of intermediate-range and short-range missiles in Asia, contingent on U.S. missile redeployment in the region. Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov stated that Russia would mirror U.S. actions, raising alarms about North Korea potentially hosting these missiles, significantly threatening South Korea. This development comes as Russia enhances its missile technology, including the intermediate-range ballistic missile "Orenishk" featuring MIRV technology. Ryabkov pointed out that the U.S. exit from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty has lifted limitations on Russia's global missile deployment. The treaty, established in 1987 to restrict missile production and deployment, has lost its effectiveness since the U.S. withdrawal during the Trump administration. President Putin has revised Russia's nuclear doctrine, reducing the threshold for nuclear weapon use. While Belarus has already deployed tactical nuclear weapons, North Korea stands out as a potential site for Russian nuclear-capable missiles. Analysts view Russia's focus on Asia as a strategic maneuver to exert psychological pressure and expand military influence in the Indo-Pacific. Diplomatic exchanges between South Korea and Ukraine spotlight concerns over North Korea's military support for Russia. South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol called for proactive measures to combat the growing military ties between the two nations. As tensions rise, Russia's prospective missile deployments threaten to reshape South Korea's security strategy and deterrence policy amid ongoing conflicts. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #SouthKorea Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar underscored the critical role of diplomacy in addressing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. In an interview, he noted that passive observation fails to provide solutions, stressing the significant strain these conflicts impose on the international system. He called for countries to actively find common ground and pursue resolutions that improve the current situation. Regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, Jaishankar emphasized the urgent need for diplomatic initiatives to end hostilities. He highlighted that, nearly three years into the conflict, military solutions are inadequate. Engagement with both Moscow and Kyiv is essential, and he urged a prompt return to negotiations, as the conflict's ramifications extend globally. He asserted that countries must take the lead in facilitating discussions, echoing a broader call for renewed negotiations. A clearer understanding of the interests of both Russia and Ukraine can only emerge through meaningful dialogue. #AsiaRisk #GeopoliticalConflictandDisputes #India Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. The National Assembly passed the Law on Notarization (amended), regulating transactions that must be notarized. The National Assembly has approved an amended Law on Notarization, consisting of 8 chapters and 76 articles, effective July 1, 2025. This law establishes the roles and regulations for notaries and notary organizations, outlining mandatory notarization criteria for specific transactions. Chairman Hoang Thanh Tung highlighted the need for general criteria to ensure consistency and prevent abuse that could undermine individual and organizational rights. The amended law defines key transactions requiring notarization, either by legal specification or delegated to the Government. The Ministry of Justice is responsible for updating and publishing these transactions on its electronic information portal, promoting consistency within the legal framework and preventing conflicts with existing regulations. Additionally, the law specifies how notary practice entities can operate, allowing for partnerships or private enterprises. It details office structures, including the number of necessary notaries and operational conditions across administrative districts. The Government will designate districts eligible for private notary office establishment, accompanied by clear guidelines for their formation and management. #AsiaRisk #Regulation #Vietnam Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia. CCTV cameras have been installed in classrooms at the newly completed Songga Senior Middle School in Pyongyang, suggesting an increase in surveillance of youth to limit outside influences. The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) emphasized the school's completion as part of its educational modernization initiative. The monitoring capabilities, observed in various settings including dance halls, raise alarms about North Korea's intentions to keep a tight grip on its younger population. While it remains unclear if other schools are similarly equipped, this trend suggests a broader effort to strengthen control over youth. Researcher Hong Min notes that North Koreans born after the 2000s are becoming more aware of external cultures, potentially creating internal tensions. This shift in awareness may prompt increased surveillance as the regime seeks to restrict foreign cultural and informational exposure. #AsiaRisk #NorthKorea #SouthKorea Get a full accounting of the security situation in Asia by subscribing to Security Asia.
