GeroPsych Consultants Pte Ltd was founded in 2017 by Wayne Freeman Chong, PhD - Caregiving Scientist, Steven Lim 林培聪, MMC, ACTA and Ms Loo Lee Voon when psychoemotional care for care recipients in intermediate and long-term care facilities in Singapore was a vacuum. Then, Wayne juggled part-time PhD studies with the core operations of the company: service evaluation and psychosocial training for #caregivers. Via strategic contracts, partnerships, and research and evaluation projects, he led the company to grow from one man to what it is today: a 5-man research and training team, a 5-man programme design and consultancy team and a 2-man corporate unit. During the pandemic, Dr Wayne had to grapple with the global human services #business downturn, prepare for the final examination of his PhD thesis, and the sudden loss of his father. His resilience and tenacity led the company to transform analogue services into digital services for caregivers, and secure large grants and strategic partnerships in the blue ocean of geropsychological services in Singapore. Today, we are delighted that our Executive Director, Dr Wayne, is nominated for the NTU School of Social Sciences Alumni Stars Social Impact and Sports Award and the Newborn Stars Award.
