Head of Human Resources & Sustainability

WE DID IT! 🎉 I’m incredibly grateful for my Assistant Head of Sustainability, Kharudin Sukaimi! About a year ago, the two of us were given the task to lead an initiative that was completely outside of our expertise—on top of our existing roles as Head of Human Resources and Head of Security. Sustainability was something we had no clue about! At first, we treated it like a co-curricular activity, but it quickly opened our eyes to a whole new world. Despite the limited resources and some pushback, we persevered, and today we are proud to say—we’ve officially achieved Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Certification! This journey has been far from easy, it’s often felt lonely, but I’m deeply thankful to the operations leaders who joined us along the way. They made the experience less painful, more fulfilling, and brought to life the importance of achieving this certification. Their support has been invaluable! Looking back, if I had the option to do it all over again, I’d still say YES. This has been such an eye-opening and memorable learning experience for both of us. A huge thank you to my Sustainability, Assistant Head Kharudin Sukaimi, the Operations Leaders at Paradox Singapore Merchant Court Adam Loo James Wong Faiezad S. Alvin Kua Kok Tiam Tsai Edwin Lee Jeffrey Phua Zih Hong Lor who made this possible—you’ve all made a lasting impact. 🙏 Thank you Control Union Singapore - Hooi Kim YEAP Rafidah (GSTC Auditors) for presenting the certificate to our General Manager, Christine Choo in our townhall last Friday, 8 November 2024 and grateful for the support and guidance from Greenview Jasline Ng Mimi (GSTC Consultant)! #Sustainability #GSTC #Leadership #Teamwork #Milestone #Gratitude #TeamParadox #ParadoxSingapore #WeCare #Anythingispossible #SustainabilityJourney #WeCarexOurEnvironment

  • This week, our Washington, DC team spent time at Edgewood Community Farm, lending a hand and learning about their impactful work addressing food justice and insecurity through urban farming and regenerative practices. Much like our Singapore team had the chance to support a local community kitchen last month through Ground-Up Initiative, both experiences gave us a hands-on opportunity to connect with organizations making a difference in their communities. A big thank you to Edgewood Community Farm for letting us be a small part of your impactful work! 🌱 #Greenview #Volunteering #Sustainability #CommunityFarm

  • 🌱 🍴 Did you know? Our analysis of 20,000+ hotel participants worldwide reveals that 77.6% now offer vegetarian options in their F&B services—a remarkable doubling in just two years! This shift to plant-based options reflects a commitment not only to animal welfare but also to reducing carbon emissions. Leading the way are the Maldives (100%), Singapore (97.5%), and Vietnam (96.7%), setting the benchmark for vegan dining options. Kudos to these trailblazers for championing change and showing that sustainability and hospitality go hand in hand! Below are more Responsible Consumption practices from hotels worldwide. Learn more on how fair trade products, responsible seafood, and cage-free eggs are incorporated into their operations. 👉 Explore more in the 2024 Green Lodging Trends Report. https://lnkd.in/edieHfrC

Last week, our Singapore team spent the day at Ground-Up Initiative (GUI) for their Food with Love program. We got our hands dirty (literally!) harvesting greens to be donated to a local community kitchen. We toiled soil, picked leafy greens, and learned more about the practices and dedication behind traditional, soil-based farming. It was a refreshing change of pace and a humbling reminder of the effort behind the food we often take for granted. It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on themes we often work on, such as reducing food waste and supporting local food systems. Grateful to be a part of GUI's amazing work! 🌱 #Greenview #Volunteering #Sustainability #FoodWithLove

  • 💡 Did you know? Energy is the second largest operating cost for hotels after employment. Improving energy performance isn’t just good for the planet—it’s good for business too! It’s no surprise that 4 in 5 hotels actively track their energy usage monthly and implement energy reduction plans. The 2024 GLTR highlights sustainability practices shaping the industry. Check out some examples on how hotels are managing their energy below, or download the full report to explore six energy best practices and more! 👉 https://lnkd.in/edieHfrC 👉 or email us at support@greenviewportal.com.
