We were glad to attend Rabobank Asia’s Food & Agribusiness #Advisory #Board Meeting (FAAB) 2024 last week. The purpose of FAAB is to bring representatives from leading companies across the global food & agriculture value chain together for a transformational day of thought #leadership and sharing. Heartened to be invited by NUS Enterprise NUS Department of Food Science and Technology as a guest speaker for the NUS #Foodtech challenge pre-competition workshop. This workshop was meant to provide undergraduate participants of the challenge with insightful information and ideas that would spur them on how best to navigate the challenge. Glad to be amongst the speaking panel comprising Dr Jacklyn Chen & Grace Caines from Nestlé, Le Jia Chong representing FoodPlant Pte Ltd and many more. I was excited to illuminate the transformative potential of #pulses in the realm of foodtech challenges! 💥 Pulse power isn't just about nutrition; it's a game-changer in our battle against #climatechange. 🌱 By advocating for pulses, we are not just promoting health, but also advocating for the health of our planet. Over the weekend, I enjoyed a lovely stroll from Raffles Place to the historic museum district to reach the beautiful Arts House Limited (AHL) where the R&D Kitchen and Experiential Centre of SATS Ltd. is based. Delighted to finally meet Chef Russell Nathan and Sarah Shum, the passionate duo behind the inaugural 'Makan the Change', a series of six Sundays devoted to the theme of sustainable food culture. Indeed, food brings people together and this event is a timely celebration of the diverse tapestry of Singapore's food landscape, bringing together local farmers, producers, chefs, changemakers and businesses at the forefront of sustainable practices. I am thankful to be invited by Sarah and Chef Russell to be part of 'Makan the Change' where I will share the power of pulses as a source of sustainable protein, plus many of the little known benefits that consuming more pulses can bring us. I will also be joined by Chef Vinita Deshmane and we will be whipping up some tasty samplers that are made with pulse #protein rich products from HerbYvore Also, on the same day, participants can hear from Leonard Shee of Mono foods, Carolin Barr K. from Susgrainable, Zac Toh (founder of City Sprouts) plus enjoy a sustainably nutritious and scrumptious Japanese themed dinner curated and prepared by Chef Joyce Cheng of Wakamama, Singapore's first #vegan #omakase restaurant.
