New research from Dr Aimee Pink and team explores children's and parents' perceptions of plant-based meat, cultivated meat, and insect proteins. Key insights: • 🌱 Plant-based meats are familiar but need better taste for wider appeal. • 🍖 Cultivated meat splits opinions: some see it as safe, others as "unnatural." • 🐛 Insect proteins face fear and disgust, though some acknowledge their safety. While taste, cost, and health are top factors for acceptance, having Halal and other certifications is important, and understanding consumer perspectives is key to driving adoption! The full article, published in ScienceDirect - Appetite, shares useful recommendations on interventions to facilitate the acceptance of alternative proteins in Singapore. On 12 Feb 2025, Dornier MedTech, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (A*STAR IHPC), MedTech Catapult, and Singapore Biodesign inked a Research Collaboration Agreement to develop an intelligent system for laser lithotripsy. Project Clarity harnesses multidisciplinary expertise across advanced modelling and simulation, and mechanical product system development and integration. The A*STAR IHPC team uses advanced modelling and simulation tool to optimise the laser lithotripsy procedure, enhancing both its effectiveness and safety in kidney stone treatment. A prototype has been developed to validate the concept, with MedTech Catapult supporting component sourcing and refinement to prepare it for user testing. About MedTech Catapult MedTech Catapult is a $38 million national initiative to accelerate the development and commercialisation of life science instruments and medical devices. It provides dedicated support to help medtech innovators and product owners bring their products from concept to market and connects them with local contract manufacturers. #IHPC #MedTechCatapult #modellingnsimulation #optimisation #kidneystone
