#GoodNews Punggol Coast station on the North East Line (#NEL) will open for passenger service on 10 Dec, 3pm! Located in the heart of #PunggolDigitalDistrict, Punggol Coast station will provide greater connectivity to the JTC Business Park and Singapore Institute of Technology (#SIT) campus, as well as the upcoming Punggol Coast Mall. With the new station, over 200,000 households will be within a 10-min walk of a NEL station, and they can enjoy shorter travel time to the city centre and other parts of Singapore. For instance, journeys from Punggol North to Outram Park or Orchard will now take 45mins, down from 60 minutes. #DidYouKnow Punggol Coast station was fully designed by LTA’s in-house designers and managed by LTA in partnership with JTC. The station is also targeting to achieve BCA’s Green Mark Certification for its energy-efficient design and operations! #ThereRailBeMore #MoveLite

Check out our new electric buses (e-buses), which will be housed at the Sengkang West Bus Depot, Singapore’s first multi-storey facility equipped with large-scale, high-powered EV chargers. This depot will support a fleet of 500 electric, diesel and hybrid buses. #DidYouKnow that these chargers can fully power an e-bus in just 1.5 hours? A single charge lasts up to 280 km - that’s about the distance from Singapore to Malacca! Take a peek into the bus depot and some of its features, including our first high-powered EV charging systems, green features, and an integrated staff quarters, before SBS Transit Ltd operationalises it in early 2025. In line with our target to have a 100% cleaner energy public bus fleet by 2040, we will be adding over 2,000 e-buses in the next five years. #PowerEveryMove

Congratulations to our Senior Advisor, Mr Chong Kheng CHUA on his Distinguished Professional Engineer Award 2024! At the Professional Engineers (PE) Board’s Day of Dedication yesterday, Mr Chua was recognised as a steward of the transport sector. He has dedicated 39 years to developing and enhancing Singapore’s land transport system, playing an instrumental role in our delivery of the Circle Line, Downtown Line, Thomson East-Coast Line, Marina-Coastal Expressway and Lornie Highway. Among his many contributions, Mr Chua’s commitment to innovation was key to the Northeast Line’s success as the world’s first driverless and fully automated heavy metro system. He has also led many groundbreaking initiatives, including the development of the region’s first rail testing centre and the world’s first integrated stacked rail depot, which serves 3 rail lines and a bus depot.

#SITCE2024 With safety as our top priority, we will be taking small, calibrated steps to support the deployment of autonomous vehicles (AVs) solutions for commercial use cases in Singapore in a data-driven manner. This includes: 1️⃣ Launching a revised testing and assessment framework to test mature AV technologies that have been deployed overseas in our local context; 2️⃣ Facilitating the trial of AVs for logistics use cases; 3️⃣ Studying the deployment of autonomous minibuses on public bus routes with lower traffic and ridership, in partnership with a public bus operator. More details will be announced at a later stage.
