About us
National Healthcare Group Polyclinics (NHGP) forms the primary healthcare arm of the National Healthcare Group (NHG). Its eight polyclinics serve a significant proportion of the population in the central and northern parts of Singapore. NHGP provides a comprehensive range of health services for the family, functioning as a one-stop health centre providing treatment for acute medical conditions, management of chronic diseases, women & child health services and dental care. The focus of NHGP’s care is on health promotion and disease prevention, early and accurate diagnosis, disease management through physician led team-based care as well as enhancing the capability of Family Medicine through research and teaching. Through the Family Medicine Academy and the NHG Family Medicine Residency Programme, NHGP plays an integral role in the delivery of primary care training at medical undergraduate and post-graduate levels. With the Primary Care Academy, NHGP provides training to caregivers and other primary care counterparts in the community sector.

The National Healthcare Group Polyclinics was honoured to be invited by the Agency for Integrated Care (Singapore) (AIC) to attend the launch of REAL, a new community youth mental health campaign by AIC. This initiative, which acknowledges the emotions and challenges faced by youths and young working adults, represents a significant step forward in raising mental health awareness and strengthening community support for the mental health needs of youths. The campaign was officially launched by Dr Janil Puthucheary (Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and Ministry of Health) at the 5th Mental Health Film Festival organised by the Mental Health Film Festival (Singapore) Ltd. Hosted by two dynamic youth leaders from Youth Corps Singapore, the event radiated positive energy and brought together key stakeholders from institutions and social service agencies dedicated to supporting community mental wellness. The audience was deeply moved by the powerful short films created by youths, which addressed sensitive mental health topics with thoughtfulness, authenticity and warmth. These films shed light on the challenges and inner struggles faced by caregivers of individuals with mental health conditions, underscored the vital importance of providing support for those struggling and demonstrated the role of empathy in fostering meaningful connections with individuals navigating mental health challenges. #NHGP was honoured to attend the event as a valued partner, reaffirming our dedication to advancing mental health care, particularly within the primary care setting. It was a privilege to reconnect with esteemed colleagues from Institute of Mental Health and MOH Office for Healthcare Transformation (MOHT), gaining valuable insights from distinguished leaders such as Prof Daniel Fung, Prof Gerald Koh and Dr Weng Mooi Tan. Engaging in meaningful discussions with community partners further strengthened our shared commitment to building a robust mental health ecosystem — especially for youth mental health — by ensuring services are accessible, comprehensive and tailored to the needs of the community. The event left us inspired and energised to continue our efforts in advancing mental wellness. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this meaningful cause and are committed to working hand-in-hand with partners to create a supportive, inclusive and holistic mental health landscape for our community. I had a very fruitful and engaging discussion with National Healthcare Group Polyclinics 2024 graduands and 2025 candidates at the Post-MMed Exam Debrief last evening. Together with #NHGP Drs Darren Seah, Donna Tan, Khai Wei Tan, Gabriel Ding and Wern Ee Tang, we spoke about What's after MMed? in the areas of Clinical Projects, Quality, Contributions to Clinics, Research, and Teaching with both graduands and candidates. I hope the Learning Journey and Exam Experience shared by the 2024 graduands will inspire and encourage our 2025 candidates. I am heartened by the enthusiasm and commitment of all our participants. Together, we will continue to advance the contributions of family medicine to primary care.

I was honoured to meet the Swedish delegation who are here to explore healthcare and life sciences opportunities in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Together with Prof Eugene Fidelis Soh, Prof Benjamin Seet and Ms Loh Shu Ching, we shared Singapore's healthcare landscape in Central North region, highlighting the unique roles that National Healthcare Group and National Healthcare Group Polyclinics play in population health, primary care delivery and supporting our communities through integrated and accessible care. Cross-border exchanges like these are vital for fostering innovative healthcare solutions and advancing global health. Thank you Goran Henriks, Jan Sjöbeck and all our Swedish friends for a fruitful session of learning and the exchange of ideas!

Medication adherence is vital for managing Type 2 diabetes, yet about 1 in 3 patients do not stay on track with prescribed treatments. Supported by the Singapore Clinical Research Institute (SCRI), a senior #NHG pharmacist and #NHGP family physician conducted a study across five National Healthcare Group Polyclinics. Together with SCRI epidemiologists, they developed a locally relevant algorithm to evaluate medication adherence. This tool aims to identify risk factors and patients with suboptimal adherence, paving the way for timely, targeted interventions to improve outcomes for people living with diabetes.
