Expanding Horizons through Global Learning 🌍 This winter, #NTUEEE student Arsyad Mohamed Shahril joined the Winter Prelude Program at Koç University in Türkiye. The 12-day program was a deep dive into entrepreneurship, e-commerce and R&D, alongside cultural immersion. Arsyad experienced a dynamic schedule, including: · Lectures on Türkiye’s modernization, economy, and international relations. · Visits to industry leaders like Ford Otosan and Mavi. · Workshops on Turkish cultural practices like folklore dance and marbling. · Exploration of vibrant neighborhoods like Kadıköy and Taksim. Arsyad reflects: "Kindness ought to be a habit, not an act. This experience was transformative, teaching me to appreciate life’s blessings, embrace curiosity, and understand others' journeys." For many, it was the school hols but on this side of the island, students from juniors colleges and polytechnics were buzzing with excitement at the Innovation Challenge 2024, a 3D2N camp organized by #NTUEEE club NTU EEE Outreach Committee. They were introduced to ESP32 and Arduino Programming, Figma, visited the labs in #NTUEEE like the Satellite Research Centre and Garage and learned more about the EEE and IEM curriculum. Kudos to the NTU EEE Outreach Committee team for organising and running the camp. Thank you again to all participants for taking the time out from your hols to be with us. Yesterday, #NTUEEE student Kim Yu Ling completed her final examination at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, marking the end of an unforgettable semester abroad. Reflecting on her transformative journey, Yu Ling shared: “Coming to Glasgow alone has been nothing short of transformative, reshaping me in ways I never thought possible. Stepping into a foreign land, away from the comforts of home, has forced me to confront parts of myself I had never fully explored.” Her time at Strathclyde pushed her academically and personally: “At Strathclyde, I’ve had to shed the comforts of recorded lectures and flexible schedules. #NTUEEE undergraduate Daryl Boh balances his day job as a property executive with attending classes up to five times a week in the Part-Time Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) programme. When Daryl began this journey, juggling work and studies was "definitely challenging," especially after being away from school for years. "However, the support from my classmates and lecturers has been invaluable. They’re always ready to guide me through each semester," the polytechnic diploma holder shared. After gaining work experience in the electrical industry, Daryl realized the importance of further education. “That’s when I decided to pursue a part-time degree,” he said, adding that his colleagues and family encouraged him to choose #NTUEEE for the journey. Assoc Prof Li Kwok Hung, programme coordinator, highlights the flexibility of #NTUEEE’s part-time programme, offering diverse specialisations to equip students with industry-relevant skills. Daryl’s advice? “If this is the path you want, go for it.
