Ellil Mathiyan Lakshmanan is a cancer survivor who channels his journey into advocacy for cancer awareness and support. Through initiatives such as Relay for Life and his role as coordinator for the Cancer Can Give movement, Ellil inspires younger generations to give back and helps them understand cancer survivorship. He regularly speaks at schools and organisations. As a mentor with the SingHealth Patient Advocacy Network, he continues to support fellow cancer survivors and the wider community. The youths of today show greater awareness and care for social and environmental issues, and NVPC is delighted to partner with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) to enhance hands-on opportunities for them to learn about purpose-driven, sustainable business.   The signed agreement between NVPC and SP will provide SP students with: • Industry Exposure: Industrial attachments, internships and mentorship from NVPC’s Company of Good members. • Experiential Learning: Hands-on experiences to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. • Curriculum Integration: Incorporating NVPC’s Company of Good insights into SP School of Business' curriculum and enhancing exposure through guest speakers and learning journeys. • Continuing Education: Co-creation and development of continuing education and training courses centred around business sustainability and corporate purpose.   These enhancements combine important concepts and frameworks in business sustainability together with access to industry leaders and real-world business settings, so that students can gain both theoretical and practical knowledge to prepare them for the future. The collaboration underscores SP and NVPC’s shared commitment and vision to nurture the next generations of socially responsible entrepreneurs and business leaders. #nvpc #singaporepolytechnic 

Dr S Vasoo has made invaluable contributions to Singapore’s social service landscape over the last five decades. His early work in piloting innovative, community-based projects to reach out to those in need has evolved into mainstream services, such as the Family Service Centres and Aces Care HelpLife we have today. Over the years, he has volunteered in various community organisations and remains active to this day. As an educator and author of various monographs and articles, he has inspired several generations of social workers and members of the public to contribute in their own ways. For over 40 years, Koh Juay Meng has been an exceptional changemaker and leader in the grassroots and social service sector. Under his visionary leadership as Chairman, RSVP Singapore The Organisation of Senior Volunteers was distinguished as the National Centre of Excellence for Senior Volunteerism, profoundly shaping Singapore’s senior volunteerism landscape. He was honoured with the Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) for his commendable public service achievements that included appointments with the ElderShield Review Committee, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore Active Mobility Advisory Panel, the Merdeka Generation Communications and Engagement Taskforce, and the SG Cares Steering Committee. The NVPC team took an evening to celebrate at the much-anticipated NVPC Night – our very first Netflix-themed Dinner & Dance last Friday! From Squid Game contestants to Wednesday Addams and even the King of Mahjong, our staff unleashed their creativity, stepping into character as their favourite Netflix stars.   With a delicious dinner and the fantastic energy of everyone in attendance, the evening was filled with fun, laughter, and moments that brought us closer.   The event was a great reminder of the power of teamwork, camaraderie, and the connections we have built along the way. Everyone showed that we don’t just shine in the office—we also light up the dance floor! NVPC is truly a team that knows how to work hard and play harder.   A big thank you to everyone who attended and made it such a memorable event. Here’s to many more nights of celebration and collaboration ahead!

Inspired by the extensive social mobility work in the UK, Clarence Ching founded Access Singapore in 2019 as a social mobility non-profit to provide career exposure opportunities for disadvantaged students. Under his leadership, Access is now a registered charity with a robust team of 150 full-time staff, volunteers, and facilitators. Access has also impacted over 1,300 academically, financially, or socially disadvantaged students across more than 20 schools, observing improvements in confidence levels and career preparedness. Beyond programmes, the team has also spearheaded advocacy initiatives, including its inaugural Access Social Mobility Summit 2024 and its Social Mobility Surveys in 2022 and 2023. Ms Kong Huay Siew is a devoted end-of-life care volunteer with HCA Hospice , contributing over 1,500 hours since 2017 as a Medi-Minder and Vigil Angel. In her role, she provides critical nursing care to young Star PALS (Paediatric Advanced Life Support) patients, managing tasks such as suctioning and feeding, while also offering comfort to patients in their final moments. Inspired by her father's end-of-life journey, Ms Kong is committed to mentoring others and expanding the Vigil Angel program. She aims to equip future volunteers with the skills and compassion essential to this meaningful work. For over two decades, Herman Sing has been a dedicated community volunteer, known for his compassion and resilience. Despite undergoing major surgery in 2023 to donate 67% of his liver to a stranger, he has continued to organise events through his group - Fulfilling Hope; Realising Dreams, which serves needy families, patients, and children. His commitment extended to the COVID-19 frontline, earning him the PBM and COVID-19 Resilience Medal. Currently, Herman serves as Vice Chairperson on the NKF Singapore (The National Kidney Foundation) Volunteer Committee, on the Singapore Silent Heroes Student Award committee, and as a volunteer mentor for polytechnic students.
