In the wake of the recent money laundering scandals including Singapore’s largest money laundering case to-date involving up to $2.8 billion worth of laundered assets including properties, vehicles and luxury items, we have seen a wave of tightening of anti-money laundering (AML) measures across various sectors in Singapore. In October 2023, an interministerial committee (IMC) was set up to review and strengthen Singapore’s AML regime and the IMC has in October 2024 published its report detailing new measures to combat money laundering, as well as providing additional guidance on how to identify red flags in suspicious transactions.
