Financial analyst to queer podcast host? 🌈 🎙 The story behind Our Queer Impact.... This is quite a nerve-wracking post to write, but in honour of #pridemonth 🌈, I'm excited to announce the stealth project I've been working on the past 2.5 months. As an avid consumer of social media (especially #podcasts 🎙), I knew the power of content creation in spreading information, showcasing underrepresented groups, and building communities. Despite all this, the existing LGBTQ+ media/podcasts are centred around comedy / pop culture. Meanwhile, the biggest podcasts are in business/career development and hosted by the same types of people holding the most power in corporations and organizations today (i.e. cisgender straight men of the majority race). As an abject refusal for these voices to take up the majority in the online space as well, I built a channel dedicated to 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝘵𝘰 𝘓𝘎𝘉𝘛𝘘+ 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭𝘴. I saw in my network of friends LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs, changemakers, thought leaders, and industry's 'who's who', and wanted to celebrate their achievements for other queer folks (and allies) to see their peers, mentors and inspirations across industries. 🌏 Thus, the launch of Our Queer Impact! 🏳️🌈🚀 It's been a project close to my heart for months, and have spent countless days and nights figuring out all things content creation - becoming my own sound engineer, camera operator, video editor, script-writer, and host - all while keeping to releasing one episode a week (this is where my investment banking grit came in handy). But the outpour of support has been unbelievable.
