Our old assumptions: ❌ Prompt engineering = complex series of text with weird structures ❌ More examples = better output, multi-shot prompting right? ❌ Special prompts (e.g. you will be rewarded with $1000, take a deep breath etc.) = better results New insights from the experts: ✅ It's about CLEAR COMMUNICATION. Not fancy tricks, but explaining tasks precisely ✅ RESPECT THE MODEL'S INTELLIGENCE. Don't dumb things down – give it full context ✅ ITERATION IS KING. The best prompts come from rapid experimentation ✅ ANTICIPATE EDGE CASES. Think beyond the "happy path" – what could go wrong? Here's how it changed our approach: A clients' chatbot was failing. Instead of complex coding, we rewrote the prompt to clearly explain user behaviour. Success rate jumped 40%! Now, we approach every prompt as a conversation with a brilliant colleague who needs crystal-clear instructions. Yesterday, we held a successful MapMyBusiness workshop for Legatcy 🎉 MapMyBusiness is designed for companies looking to understand how their internal processes impact 💰, ⌚, and overall productivity. During the workshop, we took a deep dive into every single action that each function and respective staff would perform in a typical day. This thorough examination allowed us to identify the top 3️⃣ pain points. Once all the business processes are laid out on a mind map 🗺️, participants can take it back with them, discuss it internally, and see how they can improve certain processes or automate repetitive tasks. We will also provide a summary report and proposal. If participants find it fitting, they can engage us further to help automate their business processes. Alternatively, they have the option to implement these changes on their own. Imagine engaging McKinsey or Deloitte to help streamline your business operations. It's been quite a fruitful week for us here at Pencil Labs. We had 4 discovery meetings in the past two days. 🍲 A food recommendation app 📈 An investment-focused company 👨🏻⚕️ One in the healthcare industry 💍 A traditional jewellery business Busy is good because it means there's always a chance for us to innovate, explore, and potentially close some good deals. We just ended a very positive demo today with one of the companies mentioned above. They really liked our AI chatbot builder platform. It's not ready to be launched to the public yet, but we will do so in due time, once we complete our documentation. Based on what we have gathered in the past 2 days, the market seems pretty excited about document processing and knowledge retrieval, especially to gather accurate insights. For example analysing company reports and profiles to identify key data points that may influence decisions. For document processing OCR seems to be a pretty hot topic. For gathering data and processing it for future use like sending emails, reminders, PDFs, contracts, and more. It's definitely been an exciting week for us. 🎉 We're looking at onboarding another technical team member next week, and continue building some great things together! Our principle for hiring is people & culture > skills. We'll start sharing more about our startup story, the success as well as the trials and tribulations.
