In a world increasingly focused on environmental and social responsibility, business leaders must find ways to merge business growth and environmental commitments. At the Asia Pacific Economic Forum held in Singapore last week, Craig Tribolet explained APRIL’s philosophy, where sustainability is not an afterthought, but a core and essential pillar of business strategy. “At APRIL, it is our position that a resilient business is a sustainable business,” says Craig Tribolet, Deputy Director of Sustainability at APRIL. “A sustainable business has to be engaged in discussions about how to manage the apparent tension between business growth and maintaining commitments to sustainability and environmental stewardship". Organized by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation and the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the forum brought together leaders, innovators, and influencers committed to driving positive change in the region. As one of the panelists focused on the topic of ‘Sustainable and Resilient Business in Asia Pacific’, Craig offered valuable insight on how APRIL is redefining the relationship between business growth and sustainability. By forward-thinking and future-proof planning, APRIL has successfully increased productivity, diversifying its manufacturing operations, and simultaneously deepening its ties to sustainability with investments across operations and supply chains. "Investing in sustainability not only drives long-term growth but also ensures that businesses remain adaptable, resilient, and competitive in an ever-evolving market," Craig explains. Craig was joined on the panel by other industry experts including moderator Lennon Tan, President of the Singapore Manufacturing Federation, and influential speakers such as Michael Rattinger, Senior Climate Change Specialist at the Asian Development Bank; Praveen Tekchandani, Partner in Sustainability at Ernst and Young; Zsofia BALATONI, Chief Strategy Officer at Rothman & Roman; Khulan Davaadorj, Founder and Director of Lhamour LLC; and Joshua Au, Senior Public Affairs Manager at Huawei International Pte Ltd. Together, they engaged in discussions on how businesses across the Asia-Pacific region can not only meet the challenges of sustainability but also leverage these challenges as opportunities for innovation and long-term growth. By driving forward-thinking solutions that harmonise economic development with environmental stewardship, APRIL and other leading companies in the region are paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient future for businesses across Asia Pacific. #APRIL #APRIL2030 #sustainability #environment

Sharing updates on APRIL’s sustainability journey, Sihol Aritonang, President Director of PT RAPP, spoke about the company’s long term sustainability targets and how these contribute to the Indonesian Government’s Forests, Land Use, and Land Use Change climate agenda (FOLU Net Sink 2030) at the COP29 Azerbaijan this week in Baku, Azerbaijan. Learn more about APRIL’s goals of achieving business growth through increased productivity, without any further expansion of the company’s plantations, as well as the focus on conservation through an ongoing commitment to invest US$1 per tonne of plantation fibre harvested into landscape conservation. #cop29 #cop29azerbaijan #sustainability
APRIL Group was honored to have the opportunity to share updates on its sustainability journey during the opening sessions of COP29 Azerbaijan this week in Baku, Azerbaijan. Speaking at the annual United Nations Climate Summit, Sihol Aritonang, President Director, PT RAPP, the operating arm of APRIL Group, spoke about the company’s long term sustainability targets and how these contribute to the Indonesian Government’s Net Sink FOLU 2030 climate agenda. In particular, Sihol highlighted APRIL’s commitment to support its planned business growth through increased productivity, without any further expansion of the company’s plantations. APRIL’s plantation productivity rose by 10% between 2019 and 2023 without any increases in the company’s land footprint. The company has set a target to increase this figure to 50% by 2030, as part of its APRIL2030 transformation strategy. “We do this by specific matching of tree species to particular plots of land. Then, within these plots of land, we apply specific silviculture techniques to drive productivity”. He also spoke about how, in parallel with plantation productivity targets, APRIL has also enhanced its focus on conservation through its ongoing commitment to invest US$1 per tonne of plantation fiber harvested per year in landscape conservation. “This allows us to promote conservation not only within our concessions but outside of our concessions as well, in partnership with others” “But we don’t want to stop here. We’re making these commitments to achieve sustainable business growth and deliver essential progress for the environment while supporting the Government’s agenda to addressing the challenges of climate change”. #cop29 #cop29azerbaijan #sustainability #leadership #environment #2030goals #APRIL2030 #partnerships #copunfccc #indonesiapavilion
