1.5 Million Safe man-hours achieved! This week, we celebrated the achievement of 1.5 million safe man-hours by our DE159 project team - another significant milestone achieved from the previous year. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our fellow Samwoh colleagues, esteemed subcontractors, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) specialists, and Land Transport Authority (LTA) Singapore for their support in achieving this remarkable feat. This outstanding achievement is not ours to own; it is the collective effort of every member to understand the importance of safety, implementing measures, and looking out for one another. At Samwoh, we adopt an 8-step approach to cultivating a strong EHS culture at DE159. 1. Plan Ahead 2. Recognise Risks 3. Evaluate 4. Promote Good Practices 5. Alert Others (Ask) 6. Report 7. Educate 8. Demonstrate With this framework in mind, we stand firm readiness to navigate any challenges & guide our workers in creating a safe and healthy work environment for all. #MilestoneCelebration #1MillionSafeManHours #AccidentFreeWorksite #WorkplaceSafety #InfrastructureConstruction #PavementExperts #SafeOperations

🎄✨This festive season, Samwohreans spent a meaningful day connecting with the seniors of NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Taman Jurong). We created heartwarming moments through sharing smiles, creating sustainable festive crafts, and singing Christmas carols together. It was not just about spreading festive cheer - it was about building genuine connections and showing care beyond the workplace. As we wrap up the Samwoh Green Bites series for the year, we are sharing a special DIY project to celebrate the season of giving and sustainability - upcycled snowglobes! 🎄❄️ This project reflects Samwoh's value of sustainability - finding innovative ways to reduce waste and give new life to everyday items. By repurposing plastic bottles and cardboard boxes, we are showing how small, thoughtful actions can make a difference in protecting our environment. Throughout this series, Samwoh Green Bites has highlighted eco-friendly practices that are not just ideas but actionable steps to incorporate sustainability into our daily lives. Swipe through to see the step-by-step process and some of the beautiful snow globes created by our Samwohreans and our elderly beneficiaries of Taman Jurong! Feeling inspired? Try it yourself and share the results with us! 📸👇 #SamwohGreenBites #SamwohCares #FacesofSamwoh #SustainableJourney

At Samwoh, we constantly seek to innovate for sustainability with like-minded partners. Check out JTC Corporation and National University of Singapore's recent collaboration using locally generated waste glass in a structural application - a first in Singapore! #IndustryKnowledgeSharing #ResourceCircularity #GreenBuiltEnvironment #SustainableJourney
How can we produce #sustainable construction materials by utilising locally generated waste? Through the JTC Innovation Challenge, we have collaborated with National University of Singapore on an R&D project to use locally generated waste glass as a partial cement replacement in the production of low-carbon concrete. 🏗️ The project aims to reduce the #embodiedcarbon and production cost of concrete while promoting #circularity by upcycling waste into construction materials ♻️ The research demonstrates that finely ground glass powder can function as a supplementary cementitious material. At a 20% binder replacement rate, the new material can achieve: • Enhanced durability compared to conventional concrete • 14% embodied carbon savings and 6% cost savings To bring this material one step closer to industry adoption, JTC successfully conducted a pilot trial of the developed waste glass concrete as a localised structural slab in a JTC in-house design project in November 2024. According to NUS's review, this is the first application of glass powder concrete as a structural application in Singapore. Moving forward, JTC will continue monitoring the on-site performance of the glass powder concrete and explore the feasibility of potential scaling up. #Sustainability #Innovation #Collaboration John Kiong Jane Pang William Quah 柯伟文 Wanxin Lai Yuan Gao Hongjian Du HPC Builders Pte Ltd Samwoh Corporation Pte Ltd Lim Wee Fong
