♻️🏗️The Swiss Embassy in Singapore, together with the SwissCham Climate Tech Subcommittee, hosted an inspiring event on Carbon Conscious Construction! 📉Responsible for over 38% of global CO₂ emissions, the construction sector plays a critical role in curbing emissions, making sustainable construction practices a top priority. These practices were at the heart of the evening, with Dr. Hossein Rezai, Global Design Director at Ramboll Group, presenting eight strategies for decarbonization. 💬Following the presentation, a panel discussion featured Vivien Leong, Szue Hann TAN, MBA, MArch, and Manuel Der Hagopian, moderated by Laurent Corpataux. 💡It was a pleasure to host this event at our newly renovated Embassy, which embodies many of the sustainable practices discussed. Exploring Sustainable Innovation in Construction 🌱 The SwissCham Climate Tech Subcommittee, in collaboration with the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore, hosted an engaging event on sustainability in construction at the newly rebuilt Swiss Embassy. The discussions highlighted reuse, low-carbon materials, and transformative strategies to reduce the sector’s carbon footprint. Ambassador Frank Grütter warmly welcomed attendees, emphasizing the need to prioritize reuse and adopt low and negative-carbon materials for impactful climate action. He illustrated his commitment by showcasing the Embassy extension as a prime example of sustainable construction practices. Keynote speaker Dr. Hossein Rezai, Global Design Director at Ramboll Group, presented 8 strategies for decarbonization, advocating for design excellence, disruptive innovation, and behavioral change. He highlighted the need to reduce reliance on concrete and steel, integrate sustainable materials, and embrace nature’s wisdom for a regenerative future. "Small steps lead to giant leaps," he reminded us. During the panel discussion, experts including Ms. Vivien Leong, Mr. Szue Hann TAN, MBA, MArch, and Mr. Manuel Der Hagopian, moderated by Mr. Laurent Corpataux, shared their experiences and projects, bridging the gap between innovation and practical implementation. 🙏 Thank you to all the speakers for their inspiring contributions, and a heartfelt thank you to the Embassy of Switzerland in Singapore for graciously hosting this impactful event.
