A great way to end last week! Last Friday, the TG Singapore team came together for a #CSR park cleanup at Gardens by the Bay. We were blessed with clear blue skies (before the afternoon storm rolled in!), and while the park was impressively clean, we were determined to find litter—and find it we did! Bottles, wrappers, plastic bits, and more, hidden in bushes and between the wooden slats of benches. Litterbugs here are pretty savvy! 😁 Beyond raising awareness about the environmental impact of litter, for me, this experience actually gave a deeper appreciation for the cleaners who work tirelessly to keep Singapore pristine. 💚🌿 But of course on top of all that, it was indeed a fun morning of walking, laughing, and bonding with colleagues across teams, perfectly rounded off with a hearty Indian lunch (and, of course, the inevitable post-lunch food coma!). Oh no! Does that mean we are all going to be out of job? 🤣 Looking at the "features" that LinkedIn has been pushing from our RPS or recruitment solutions, it does feel very tone deaf - I've tried all the AI assisted searches and still our tried-and-tested filters and boolean search works way better than their chatbot-lite prompts. Here's my take - the junior to mid roles can easily be automated by major corporations. Current state of ATS are smart enough to filter and screen in most scenarios, and discerning enough to even verify some of the information online. That is, provided: (1) Qualified applicants ACTUALLY apply to the role (2) It's a role that can be made known to the public (and competitors) (3) Requirements and Expectations are clearly defined (4) Role is time-sensitive and time-critical For roles that don't fit the above criteria, humans are still required. Headhunters are bridges that match candidates to hiring manager/directors, and if any compromises and negotiations need to be made, then robots or AI won't be able to do so as effectively (as of now). So congratulations for my peers and friends in the recruitment space, looks like we are still safe, for now... Have a role that looks like it doesn't fit the above requirements?
