At Uncommon, we know that true leadership isn't about adding more to your plate, it's about strategically subtracting to amplify your impact. That's why we're exploring the powerful concept of 'creation as subtraction' in our latest article. For female leaders navigating the complexities of today's world, this isn't just a theory—it's a game-changer. We're challenging the notion that 'more' equals 'better,' and diving into how removing the unnecessary can reveal the extraordinary. In this piece, we unpack how subtraction can empower you to: ✨Cultivate Laser-Sharp Focus: Ditch the distractions and prioritise what truly moves the needle. ✨Build High-Performing, Empowered Teams: Release the reins and foster autonomy. ✨Prioritize Your Well-being: Subtract limiting beliefs and societal pressures to create space for your authentic self. We're not just offering insights; we're providing actionable strategies rooted in behavioral science, the cornerstone of our Uncommon approach.

This January, I found myself in a deeply introspective place. After my dad’s spinal cord injury, it really put competing interests and goals in perspective. I slowed down in ways I hadn’t before—stepping back from the momentum of life to ask: How am I, really? We often set ambitious goals at the start of the year, but how often do we pause to check in on ourselves holistically? Not just our careers, but our relationships, friendships, our purpose, our health, our finances, our joy? With Uncommon, it has never been about just racing ahead to the next milestone but about helping women to thrive in the season they are currently in. So, I’ve started a new practice: the Uncommon Monthly Check-In—a moment to zoom out and take stock of where I truly am. Here’s how it works: 🔹 Energy: Am I feeling drained or replenished? 🔹 Health: Am I sleeping well? Moving enough? 🔹 Finances: Am I being intentional with my money? 🔹 Friendships & Relationships: Who have I connected with this month? Who do I miss? 🔹 Career & Purpose: Am I doing work that excites me? What’s pushing me forward—or holding me back? Instead of waiting for a crisis to ask these questions, I’m weaving them into my existing practices. One thing I have learned from working with thousands of women leaders is that progress looks different at different moments. If you set a lot of goals, I’d love for you to try it this year and let me know how it goes. Take 10 minutes, reflect, and share: What’s one thing your check-in is telling you today? 💡👇

🌟 Make 2025 your year...
✨ This year, I made the decision to invest in my personal and professional growth by joining Uncommon, a private network for women leaders. Uncommon isn’t just a community; it’s a learning and development platform that uses behavioral science, coaching, and the power of a supportive network to bridge the gap between knowledge and action. Its mission? To empower women with the clarity and courage to pursue their own versions of success, level up their careers, and scale big ideas — all while having a solid base of female leaders cheering them on. As part of this experience, I had the privilege of participating in a 4-week peer-to-peer coaching program with an incredible cohort of like-minded women exploring the strategic leadership route. Together, we dove into building our visions, articulating our values, finding our authentic voices, and honing leadership skills like collaboration and self-awareness to develop our personal leadership philosophies. A heartfelt thank you to my coach, Yael COLLET, for your guidance and insights, and to my entire cohort for showing up with your whole selves, exploring vulnerability, and sharing your wisdom. These sessions weren’t just about leadership; they were about connection, growth, and the courage to dream boldly. As our semester came to a close yesterday, I couldn’t feel more inspired and excited about what lies ahead. Here’s to continuing this journey, cheering each other on, and creating lasting change where it matters most. 💪✨ Yolanda Lee Yael COLLET Rachel Bach Pei Shyuan Yeo Anna Prantner Sophia Huang #Uncommon #LeadershipJourney #WomenInLeadership #PeerCoaching #PersonalGrowth
