Last week, we were honored to host Mrs. Fujiko Amano, Director for Investment Collaboration at the Investment Facilitation Division, Economic and Industrial Policy Bureau of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI), and Kosuke Hiramatsu, Senior Director of Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Jakarta, at our Traveloka Campus in Indonesia. Joining the discussion virtually from Japan were Christian Nugroho, our Country Head, Japan, and Masahiro Yamazaki, Head of Marketing, Japan. This visit highlights a key milestone in strengthening international collaboration and exchanging insights to advance the travel and digital economy sectors. As part of this event, Widya Listyowulan, Vice President of Public Policy and Government Relations, shared Traveloka's vision and initiatives, underscoring our commitment to innovation and sustainable growth in the industry. At Traveloka, we firmly believe in the power of public-private partnerships to create meaningful solutions for travelers, communities, and economies alike. We are honored to have participated in the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Conference 2024, joining visionary leaders, government partners, and advocates committed to shaping the future of sustainable tourism. At the event, Traveloka’s President, Caesar Indra, delivered the keynote, emphasizing the importance of collective action in protecting the destinations we love, uplifting local communities, and making sustainability an integral part of travel. Our Head of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Loic Dujardin, joined a panel discussion on how shifting consumer preferences are turning sustainability into a key driver of innovation and competitiveness within the travel industry. At Traveloka, we believe that meaningful progress requires collaboration. Through initiatives like carbon-offset options for flights and hotels, partnerships that help accommodations adopt sustainable practices, and on-the-ground restoration efforts, we aim to contribute to positive change across the region. Sustainable tourism is a shared responsibility. It’s about creating lasting impact—preserving natural beauty, fostering community resilience, and ensuring the travel experiences we cherish today remain possible for future generations.
