  • Clean energy is reshaping the way we power the world, offering solutions that are innovative, sustainable, and accessible. From harnessing the power of rivers to tapping into the endless potential of the sun and wind, renewable energy sources are driving a global shift toward a cleaner and more resilient future. 💧 Hydropower: The oldest and largest renewable energy source, providing about 15% of global electricity. ☀ Solar energy: In just one hour, the sun provides enough energy to power the world for an entire year. 💨 Wind power: A single modern wind turbine can generate electricity for over 1,500 homes annually. 🌋 Geothermal energy: Uses the Earth’s internal heat for power. Fun fact: Iceland generates nearly 100% of its electricity using geothermal and hydropower! 🌱 Bioenergy: Creates energy from organic materials like agricultural waste, turning waste into sustainable power. #CleanEnergy #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #ClimateAction #URECA

Over the weekend, URECA hosted the Prime Minister of Mongolia H.E. Oyunerdene Luvsannamsrai at its Coal-to-Solar (C2S) project site in Ulaanbaatar, where families are transitioning from coal to renewable energy heating systems through innovative carbon financing solutions enabled by URECA’s proprietary technologies. C2S, a flagship initiative by URECA, in collaboration with UNDP, The Asia Foundation, GerHub, and government stakeholders, is using a suite of digital MRV solutions with IoT sensors, advanced Machine Learning and blockchain technologies to allow households to sell digitally verified emissions reduction certificates to finance the transition to clean energy. The visit reinforced the importance of modern technologies that can mobilize innovative climate financing solutions to scale renewable energy in addressing Ulaanbaatar’s winter air pollution and improving the quality of life for families. URECA is on a mission to provide at least a million people with access to clean energy by 2030 through the use of technology and innovative financing solutions. 📸 Photo Credit: UNDP Mongolia Country Office

At COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, our Chief Sustainability Officer, Onon Bayasgalan, and Tuvshintungalag Boldbaatar represented URECA at the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) event. They shared our flagship Coal-to-Solar project and participated in the Global Green Innovation Challenge. Onon’s reflections highlight the importance of platforms like COP for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation, while also acknowledging the challenges posed by differing global interests. Despite these obstacles, URECA remains committed to advancing climate solutions through technology, meaningful partnerships, and community engagement. Thank you, Onon, for sharing these insights and representing URECA at this important event. #ClimateAction #COP29 #ClimateSolutions #CoalToSolar #C2S #URECA

Last month, I had the honor of attending the Climate Change Conference of Parties 29 (widely known as COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan with my colleague Tuvshintungalag Boldbaatar. At Baku, we had the chance to speak about our “Coal to Solar” Project at the Asian Development Bank Institute’s (ADBI) event that was hosted at the Azerbaijan Technical University as well as to compete in the Global Green Innovation Challenge, hosted by SABAH.HUB and others.     Some of the highlights of the speakers we had a chance to listen to were Jim Skea, the current chair of the IPCC, who emphasized the importance of wind and solar being “the biggest ticket items” for climate change, and Alok Sharma, the President of COP26, who spoke of a positive future in which the world finally has a Eureka moment in climate change.   Attending the Climate COP is like attending a one-stop-shop on climate. Extremely impactful synergies can be created, networks established and very quick learning on the latest innovation and thinking can happen. However, there were very certainly many people in the room that had very different interests in attending the Conference. As Alok Sharma alluded to, the world is on the verge of a true “Eureka moment” in addressing climate change. However, the potentially harmful influence of oil and gas interests, combined with the inflexible positions of developed economies, creates significant tension in negotiation rooms. These factors slow progress and add roadblocks to humanity achieving its pivotal breakthrough. Regardless, URECA will move forward with our work and continue to uphold the values of stubborn optimism when we tackle climate issues with our technologies, important partnerships, and community engagement.

We’re proud to see the progress of efforts to transition ger district households in Ulaanbaatar to clean, renewable energy solutions. We extend our gratitude to the Government of France for their vital support in making this initiative possible, and to H.E. Ms. Corinne Pereira da Silva for visiting Songinokhairkhan District to witness its impact firsthand. The goal of this project is to reduce air pollution, improve public health, and support a just transition to renewable energy for low-income families, creating a pathway toward sustainable energy solutions. We’re also grateful for the collaboration with UNDP Mongolia Country Office, Ulaanbaatar City, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, and GerHub to advance distributed renewable energy adoption in Mongolia. #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy #URECA #CleanEnergy #Sustainability #Mongolia #C2S #CoalToSolar

URECA was honored to present our Coal-to-Solar Project (C2S) in partnership with The Asia Foundation and GerHub to Senator the Hon. Sue Lines, President of the Australian Senate, and the first cross-parliamentary Australian delegation to Mongolia in 8 years, including The Hon Karen Andrews MP, Dr Carina Garland MP, Mr Jerome Laxale MP, Mr Sam Lim MP, Mr Keith Wolahan MP and Ms Zali Steggall OAM MP. During the discussions, we addressed the urgent issue of air pollution in Ulaanbaatar and the growing challenges to Mongolia’s traditional nomadic lifestyle, exacerbated by climate change. This shift is contributing to the migration to Ger districts. The C2S initiative presents a unique opportunity to leverage carbon financing for a just transition for low-income households, with the potential to reduce over 3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, mitigate air pollution, and improve public health. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's (DFAT) multi-year support is crucial to enhancing international visibility and trust in this transformative project for Mongolia. We also shared insights into URECA’s efforts on soil carbon sequestration and its relevance to Australia’s climate strategy. We're excited about the partnerships we’re cultivating with Australian research institutions and industries to scale these efforts. A heartfelt thank you to the Australian Embassy in Mongolia, Ambassador Katie Smith and The Asia Foundation for their support as we continue to strengthen our collaboration with Australia. #ClimateAction #SustainableEnergy #JustTransition #CarbonSequestration #ClimateSolutions #Australia #Mongolia

On this International Day of Climate Action, let’s do a simple calculation to understand how massive global emissions are: humans emit over 36 billion tons of CO2 every year. To put this into perspective, that’s roughly equal to 66.7 billion flights! Yet, only 40 million flights happen globally each year. You do the math—the scale is staggering. Let’s remember that the Earth needs us more than ever. Every small step counts in protecting our planet for future generations. 🌍 #ClimateAction
