🔍 State of Singapore VC in 2024: In a recent article in The Straits Times, our CEO Kee Lock Chua shared his perspectives on Singapore's venture capital landscape, which despite a slight dip in funding, remained active in the first nine months of 2024. Here are some key takeaways: ↗ Singapore's venture capital market raised US$4.05 billion across 369 deals in the first nine months of 2024, down from US$4.3 billion and 410 deals in the same period in 2023. ↗ Singapore however continues to lead the ASEAN region, capturing 58% of total deal volume and 68% of deal value. 💡  Kee Lock's Insights: ↗ Anticipated interest rate cuts could provide a tailwind for venture activity, but a nuanced recovery landscape is expected due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and trade dynamics. ↗ While policy changes, trade relations and regulatory environments can impact investment flows, Kee Lock stressed that technological innovation and market opportunity often transcend these political cycles ↗ Singapore is also emerging as a strategic hub for next-gen technologies, supported by a robust regulatory framework and strong government backing. Startups focused on enterprise-AI applications will be a promising area to watch.
