The Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) of ADGM has issued its IT Risk Management Guidance, a comprehensive framework for managing technology risks in the financial sector. Building on its earlier Discussion Paper and industry feedback, the Guidance outlines best practices in IT risk management, governance, incident response and third-party oversight, emphasising secure interactions through access controls, cryptography and secure transactions, while exploring emerging technologies like AI-driven solutions and decentralised platforms. Aligned with global standards, the FSRA expects regulated entities to adopt these practices in proportion to the scale and complexity of their operations. The DFSA's 2024 Cyber Thematic Review has been released. The Review underscores the ongoing importance of cyber security, and that it remains a priority for the DFSA. 641 firms were asked to participate in the Review, which assessed firms’ cyber security maturity and compared results with the outcomes of the 2022 Review. The 2024 Review highlights progress in hygiene practices but points to gaps in third-party risk management, encryption, testing and incident response.
