Hidden hunger: did you know that as of 2022, about 768 million people are undernourished according to the World Bank, with populations in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa being the most affected? 🤔 Committed to addressing nutritional challenges, Yara India has proudly partnered up with HarvestPlus Solutions to improve the nutritional quality of crops in rural communities, focusing on staple crops. The program pilot phase started with zinc wheat cultivation in five districts across Uttar Pradesh, India. 🌾 The NutriFarms program not only enhanced nutrition through better crops but empowered farmers to adopt advanced #RegenerativeAgriculture practices, helping to increase yield and resilience to environmental stresses. This supports food security and uplifts livelihoods in the community. ✨ As the program concludes, the bundling of biofortified seeds with smart zinc fertilizers led to a significant increase in zinc and iron content in the harvested crops. Additionally, participating farmers reported an average income increase of around 42%*! 📈 At Yara, we are committed to transforming agriculture from the ground up, focusing not just on yields but on the nutritional value of the food we grow. “This isn't just about increasing productivity; it's about cultivating a future where every harvest contributes to healthier lives and stronger communities,” said Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director, Yara South Asia. Join us on our journey to advance agricultural sustainability in Africa & Asia! 🌏🌍 Learn more 👉 https://lnkd.in/guPcTb3A *The figure provided is based on controlled, limited trials conducted with farmers, observed by field partners and enumerators.

Developing climate smart agriculture solutions is key to mitigating the impact of climate change, especially here in Asia, where over half the world’s food is produced. 🌏   Speaking during the Asia-Pacific Agri-Food Innovation Summit at a panel titled “Accelerating innovation: Accessing scale-up finance opportunities for agri-food tech,” Marisa Rebelo, SVP Innovation & Impact, shed light on the sustainable transition in agriculture. Here are some highlights ⬇️   🌱 Empowering smallholder farmers with #RegenerativeAgriculture practices, Yara Africa & Asia is supporting Nature-Positive food production without impacting yield and quality.   📈 Co-creating solutions through an open innovation platform with partners along the value chain brings expertise together and maximises the impact.   📱Uplifting communities through knowledge, technology, and increased connectivity will be crucial to scaling agri-food innovations.   We look forward to leading a food system transformation in collaboration with private and public partners through innovation platforms like #ThryveInnovationCoLab. 🤝

Optimising crop quality and yield starts at the very beginning – with the seed. 🌱 Seed growers have the crucial job of cultivating high-quality healthy seeds that will help boost farmer’s crop yield. At Yara Africa & Asia (YAA), we firmly believe that #KnowledgeGrows, and that it has the power to create positive change on a global scale. 🌍 This is why agronomic experts in Yara gathered with seed growers in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania to deep dive into key topics including specialised biostimulant nutrition, seed treatments, and best practices to grow soybean and maize. 🗝️ Andres Felipe Rangel Becerra, Technical & Portfolio Manager, shed light on how Yara’s patented technology in biostimulants reduces yield gaps and promotes better produce quality. Juliana Ferreira Machado, Product Specialist, shared insightful crop management tips from Yara Brasil that were tried and tested, using an innovative blend of biostimulants and conventional nutrients. 🌾 This interactive session is just one of the ways that YAA is acting on our mission to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet. We are proud to support the agricultural community to feed generations to come and minimise the gap in food security. 🍽️
