It was a pleasure to explore the latest developments in valuation standards; and the growing importance of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) with the British Consulate General Team and International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC) earlier this week in Hong Kong. Alexander Aronsohn FRICS led an insightful keynote on the latest changes to the Global Red Book and International Valuation Standards, followed by an engaging panel discussion on ESG issues and the Hong Kong market. Thank you to Chris Woodward, Director-General, Trade & Investment, British Consulate-General, for the warm welcome remarks; Emcee Sydney Lewis, Head of Investment Services at the Department for Business and Trade; and our esteemed speakers and panellists: Chun Kong Lau MRICS, Managing Director, Hong Kong & Managing Director, Colliers K K Chiu FRICS, Chief Executive, Cushman & Wakefield Greater China Rita Wong FRICS, Executive Director, Head of Valuation & Consulting, Greater China, CBRE Asia Pacific And a big thank you to all RICS members and candidates who attended the seminar, including Clement Lau former President of RICS; Hannah Jeong and Justin Yu, Hong Kong Advisory board members. #valuation #profession #surveyors #surveying #redbook #ESG #Environment #social #governance Follow RICS in Asia Pacific for the latest across the profession 🌏

The latest RICS Global Monitors have been released – with mixed results and sentiment for each sector across the Asia Pacific markets. Results point to a possible slowdown in construction activity growth in most world regions; and considerable variation in the property outlook for the next 12 months regarding different regions, countries and sectors. RICS Chief Economist, Simon Rubinsohn: “The headline RICS Commercial Property Sentiment Index (CPSI) posts the least negative reading in two years, albeit this remains relatively weak on a longer term comparison. On the other hand, RICS Construction Sentiment Index (CSI) Shows the least positive reading in just under two years and the Q3 results point to a possible slowdown in construction activity growth across most world regions. Although APAC is on the weaker end of the spectrum in both surveys, the picture is mixed at a country level.” Access the reports today: 🏙️ Global Commercial Property Monitor https://lnkd.in/gaUZ6nf7 🏗️ Global Construction Monitor https://lnkd.in/g5AScFzm #construction #commercialproperty #surveyors #surveys #profession #economics #ricsapac Follow RICS in Asia Pacific for the latest across the profession 🌏

Member engagement events continue across APAC – and this time it’s a pleasure to recap two recent site tours that welcomed over 55 RICS members and candidates in Hong Kong. ➡️ Townplace West Kowloon Around 20 RICS local members and candidates joined the tour of this flagship project, which opened in October 2023. Developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited, this residential project represents a contemporary lifestyle and staying experience, catering for young professionals in Hong Kong with an emphasis on promoting flexibility and diversity. A sincere thank you to Elee Lee and Ronnie C. from Sun Hung Kai for the tour and Alvin Leung FRICS – former RICS Matrics Group Member, Rachel Chung (MRICS) and Alan Choi MRICS from our RICS Hong Kong Member Engagement Group for organising the event. ➡️ Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Over 35 RICS members and candidates enjoyed a tour of this innovative site, one of the world’s leading airports, managed and operated by Airport Authority Hong Kong. HKIA is being transformed from a city airport to an Airport City with various ongoing projects, including the Three-runway System (3RS), SKYCITY and air cargo development, to reinforce HKIA’s hub status. The tour delegates were able to experience daily operations, from managing flights to responding to industry challenges; access to restricted areas including the Integrated Airport Centre to see the orchestration of passenger flow and emergency protocols; and the Sky Bridge, with its breathtaking views. The highlight of the day was Mr. Steven Yiu Siu-chung, Executive Director of Airport Operations, sharing invaluable insights into HKIA’s development. Mr. Yiu shared HKIA's vision: standing as a vital international aviation hub, seamlessly connecting air, sea, and land transport. Its strategic location at the heart of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) further enables it as a gateway to the world. Thank you to Mr. Steven Yiu Siu-chung and his team, including Mr. K H Siu, Mr. Bernard Chan, Mr Eric Lok, Mr Tony Cai, and many others. Their efforts greatly enhanced our understanding of airport operations, the aviation industry, and the convention and exhibition landscape in Hong Kong. A special thank you to Vincent Chow MRICS and Alan Choi MRICS from the RICS Member Engagement Group for making this visit possible. #surveyors #sitetour #airports #aviation #operations #residential #innovation Follow RICS in Asia Pacific for the latest across the profession 🌏
