The prestigious STPI Creative Workshop & Gallery proudly presents "In Praise of Silence 寂靜在說話," a solo exhibition by the visionary Singaporean artist Jane Lee, curated by the talented Tan Siuli. Running from July 29th to September 3rd, 2023, this exhibition invites you to delve into a world where monochromatic hues, light, shadow, and the profound essence of Eastern philosophy converge to create an artistic marvel.

Emerging from the vibrant palettes of her past exhibition "Freely, Freely" in 2016, Jane Lee unveils an evolution in her artistic expression that has been greatly influenced by Eastern philosophy and a deliberate embrace of simplicity. Within the sanctuary of STPI's workshop, Lee's creative spirit takes on a new form, guided by a deep synergy between her artistry and the collaborative efforts of the workshop team. The resulting artworks stand as a testament to the power of trust and innovation, transcending conventional limits to explore uncharted territories of papermaking techniques.

The very essence of the exhibition's title, "In Praise of Silence 寂靜在說話," draws inspiration from Jun’ichirō Tanizaki's iconic essay, "In Praise of Shadows," which extols the beauty found in the interplay of light and darkness. Threads of ancient wisdom are interwoven throughout the exhibition, paying homage to the "Dao De Jing" (The Book of the Way), an ancient Chinese treatise on wisdom by philosopher Laozi. Jane Lee's latest artistic cycle magnificently captures the spirit of minimalism, inviting viewers to ponder the concept of the absolute and the primordial.
