4 Star Hotels in EL Nido

The resort is in a great location with a small but quiet beach and a nice house reef outside. Beware that some units require walking up a lot of steps and the ones set away from the beach have a lot of mosquitoes around. The staff are super friendly and nice although the service of the hotel could be more attentive i.e when lying on the beach you don’t get asked if you want drinks. Room cleaning was only done once in our 7 day stay and only because we asked for it. Towels are not automatically offered to beach goers all the time. The restaurant is pretty slow with almost an hour for food to arrive sometimes. The food itself can be nice depending on what you order. Some is pretty good actually…others a bit average. Pricewise, this isn’t a cheap hotel and I feel that if you compare the price to resorts in other tropical beach locations around the world, you get much better service in other places like Sheratons, Marriotts and Hiltons etc. that said, overall I would still recommend Matinloc for the great beach and reef.

It's not a good idea to travel alone. You pay a deposit first, and the necessary expenses are paid from it, so you don't have to pay anything during your stay.Also, you can generally be satisfied with the activities included in the hotel plan, so there is no need to make reservations. You can truly forget about the world. Please note that transportation must be booked up to three days in advance, and activities must be booked up to the day before. It seems that the marine plants and animals on the beach in front of the hotel are being carefully protected and nurtured, and there are signs of regeneration. Even now, there are various plants and animals in that narrow cove, which can be seen from the pier, and is a great place to snorkel or dive. It is very fun. The air conditioning is so comfortable that you almost forget you're in the Philippines. There is also hot water in the bathroom. Above all, the staff are very hardworking and I would like to hear about what kind of employee training they do. The activities are also very interesting. Meals change daily. I think it's delicious for the Philippines. (In general, the food is better in Thai-Vietnamese food. I have the ingredients, so why not?) I wanted to get back the frying pan and make the omelet myself. If I give you the recipe for dessert, will you make it for me? )g The only thing is that the drainage system is weak, and there is an ammonia smell in the shower room. This is a common problem throughout the Philippines, and may be a fundamental problem with the piping system or construction technology.

We left on a bad note and so our review will start on a bad note! All this place cares about is soaking you for every cent your worth without regard to your happiness. Billing meals and drinks uses a system devised in the 17th century utilizing carbon paper, a pen, and pad. No computers. How could things go wrong? On our final day we received a call from the front desk confirming our early morning transport to the airport which we had already arranged and confirmed twice. We were quoted $44 for private transport to the airport at 5 am which was already way too much for the 15-minute 4.3-mile journey. Our flight left at 7 am so I was a little confused why the resort wanted to leave so early. To add to the confusion, we were quoted $26 for a private airport transfer earlier that week. So, during the phone call we confirmed the price which now was quoted at $61! I balked at this and was requoted at $53 than again at $61. I now proceeded to the front desk to find out what is going on and talked to the manager. She showed me the pricing and indeed, if you had private transport to the airport before 5 am the cost was $61. At 5 am and after, the price was $53. However, my transport was at 5 am so it should be $53. She did not agree. So I arranged for 5:15 am and she reluctantly charged us our original quote of $44. Ok, all is well now. However, I believe that the resort wanted us to leave early for the airport in order to charge us more money. We ate dinner and we had two bottles of water. We settled our tab at 8 pm due to our early departure the next day. During the settlement, I pointed out that the restaurant had not billed us for the two bottles of water, however the desk person said that they were included and pointed them out on the tab. Great all is well! At 10:30 pm while sleeping our phone rings and the same desk person says “I know your sleeping but could you come down and pay for two bottles of water which were not billed?” ***! I said no (I was so mad I actually cursed on the phone) and said I would pay the driver in the morning. Again, I was so mad I could not get back to sleep! I cannot believe a resort would wake someone for $5 which I tried to pay earlier, particularly after spending over $2,800 on our stay. Just let it go! But the money was more important than the guest’s happiness. Our room and balcony were noisy from the main highway below and was really hot and unusable in the afternoon because the sad little AC could not keep up with the direct sunlight from the balcony even with the curtains closed. No shade at the pool. The resort is super steep so if you have any mobility issues, don’t stay here. Can’t walk to town because of how steep the road is. Housekeeping locked us out twice and confiscated our key. We had to ask for coffee in our room every morning. The hardest bed ever (ouch). Nice hotel. Clean and a good location from El Nido beach. Some good bars and restaurants nearby. It is a little noisy at night, but ok. The breakfast is ok. Nothing special. We thought the omelette had no taste. But a decent stay. Vanilla Beach is lovely and 10 mins drive away. Tour A boat trip is incredible.Ps, a huge issue in El Nido is ATMs. They always run out or do not accept cards. Please be prepared. A few places accept credit cards, so save your money if you are running out.

Our stay was terrific. The Buko team was incredibly accommodating, both ahead of our arrival and once we were here. The service was top-notch. Estephania and the reception team helped us arrange transportation, tours, and a special dinner to celebrate one of our party’s birthday. When we arrived, we found they had also decorated our room especially for his birthday and every member of the staff had signed a birthday card. The restaurant and bar was also excellent. The food was good and the menu diverse. We tried many breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and they were all delicious. The restaurant team, Roseann, PJ, and Rollen, were always very attentive. We stayed in the Sea View Cottages and found them to be cozy, intimate, and clean. The air conditioning worked great and the bedding was comfortable. The cottages were outfitted with every possible means of mosquito repellent, and the outdoor bathrooms were modern, clean, and tranquil. The pool was clean and cool, which we found to be rare considering the hot temperature (we visited in May and the pools at other hotels/resorts we stayed at were very warm). We loved how small the resort was and the gardens were well kept. Despite being close to the road, we didn’t hear much traffic. Overall an amazing stay, and if we ever come back to El Nido we would stay here again.

Fantastic hotel! Lovely, clean pool and beach area. The breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The shuttle from the airport was very easy and the staff were friendly.

The first words of the staff is “welcome to paradise” and we can only say it was truly experiencing paradise. From the first second at lounge arrival to the last second of departure there was an amazing, friendly and personalized customer care! The hotel environment , the room, the food, the complementary boat trips all was excellent and gave us an incredible experience to never forget and … to return back to☺️

I stayed at this hotel recently and had an utterly disappointing experience. The staff exhibited a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. Despite arriving slightly earlier than check-in, we were forced to wait for hours without any consideration. When I inquired about our room just two minutes before check-in time, the response was cold and dismissive, lacking any semblance of customer service. Furthermore, when we asked for the WiFi password, the staff member claimed ignorance and made us feel as if we were inconveniencing them by insisting on such a basic amenity. The room phones were utterly useless as they lacked telephone wires, rendering them nothing more than decorative pieces. The condition of the towels was appalling; they were stained and clearly not laundered properly. The pool resembled a stagnant pond, with murky water and visible debris floating on the surface. To make matters worse, the reception toilets were not only unsanitary but also lacked any signage indicating they were out of order, resulting in a disturbing encounter with diarrhoea. The shared toilets were equally neglected, with cobwebs adorning the corners and giant spiders lurking in the shadows. The bar and BBQ area seemed like relics from a forgotten era, abandoned and desolate. Even the sun-beds by the pool were broken, posing a safety hazard to guests. To top it all off, we rented mopeds through the hotel, only to be accused of causing damage upon returning them. The staff went so far as to track us down at our next hotel, demanding compensation for alleged damages. My advice to future guests: document every detail meticulously with photos and videos to protect yourself from such baseless accusations. Overall, my stay was nothing short of a nightmare, and I would strongly advise against anyone considering this establishment, we checked out a day early to get out as soon as possible.

We enjoyed an idyllic stay on an incredibly beautiful island. The resort met our expectations. The villa is remarkably clean and decorated with great taste. All necessary equipment is available and functional. The private swimming pool is very pleasant. In conclusion, the staff is professional and worthy of a 5 star rating in France. I thank Bahala Na Villas for helping to make our trip wonderful.
