It is conveniently located in a quiet place though still very close to the lakeside. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and I really enjoyed my meals there

A small hotel. Shanani the owner was extremely friendly and helpful. She cooked us an amazing dinner one night and the breakfast also plentiful and tasty. The Villa is an easy walk to the centre of Kandy and the Temple. If you are tired of the same old hotels found in all major cities then a stay here is far more authentic. Clean rooms, great food, well priced and friendly staff. Shanani even made us some sandwiches to take on the train to Ella. I thoroughly recommend this place.

Friendly family run bed & breakfast where you feel at home straightaway! The rooms are clean and spacious. Breakfast is served in a nicely decorated living room where you’ll be served fruits and freshly made hoppers (a Sri Lankan specialty).

This place doesn’t pretend to be flash but is a very comfortable homely boutique hotel. The large bedroom was nicely furnished, but I guess if you were fussy you could say the bathroom is a bit tired. The location on a quiet street is central enough - 30 minutes walk round the lake to downtown Kandy. The manager, Shanani, was particularly kind and welcoming, as were the other staff. Lovely breakfast and Shanani showed us how she makes the best egg hoppers. Highly recommend this place.

Villa 49 is a delightful guesthouse near the heart of Kandy. Tastefully and artistically decorated throughout, the Villa has a feel of times gone by. The hostess is extremely hospitable and puts a great deal of time and thought into her offer. Traditional Sri Lankan food is served with almost everything being home made. It really feels like being a guest in someone’s home. I would highly recommend Villa 49 and hope I get the opportunity to visit again in the future.
