We stayed here for 1 night whilst visiting family. We booked a classic double room so we weren’t expecting it to be amazing but we were so disappointed with the room, which looked nothing like the ones shown on the website. The website says the rooms are newly refurbished, but ours definitely wasn’t. It was very dated and tired looking, which I could forgive if it was clean, but unfortunately it wasn’t. The building is lovely from the outside and downstairs the restaurant looked good, but our room (5) just wasn’t good enough after the image that’s portrayed on the website. The room was tiny with only one bedside table, there was no wardrobe, it didn’t smell very nice, the carpet looked filthy with stains and general dirt, there were cobwebs and spiders in every corner, the bathroom floor hadn’t been cleaned, there were stains on the pillow case and the milk was out of date. The bathroom was even worse with black mould, a cracked window, a really bad smell from the drains, a child’s toilet seat even though the room clearly wouldn’t be used for a family, the towel radiator didn’t work, and the water pressure and temperature were all over the place. It’s such a shame because we wanted it to be good and the people working here were nice, but the room needs completely redoing with a deep clean. The dining room downstairs is nice, and the breakfast in the morning was pretty good, which is what the 2 stars are for.
