Fortress of the Knights of Santiago
Westward in Spain ~ Province of Badajoz (Region)
It is known as Luna Castle, referring to Álvaro de Luna, the Grand Master of the Order of Santiago and a high-ranking Castilian officer, who resided there for a long time. It has four enclosed areas, but the most prominent structure is the castle, which is divided into five levels. It is accessed through a pointed archway. Inside, you can find the Church of Santa María del Castillo, a Romanesque church with three naves covered by barrel vaults.
