Wuyuan is a picturesque place. This southern town is so beautiful.
In recent years, I have mostly traveled to the south, mainly because the scenery in the south is so beautiful. I have been to Yunnan and seen Erhai Lake and Dianchi Lake. I have been to Guizhou and seen countless waterfalls and majestic mountains. This time I came to Anhui. Due to limited time, I chose Wuyuan as the main city, but besides Wuyuan, I also went to Hongcun, Tacun, Jingdezhen, and other places.
I planned to explore in depth, so I rented a car from a certain platform. The car was very new, mostly within 2 years old. We also received a new user gift package, with a direct discount of 100 yuan on the first day's rental, which made me very happy. Tips: As the Spring Festival approaches, there may be some activities. If you have travel plans for the Spring Festival, I suggest keeping an eye out for them.
Impressions of Wuyuan
By the end of November and early December, although the beginning of winter and light snow have passed, for Wuyuan, the "autumn colors" are just beginning to reach their peak. The elegant white walls and black tiles blend with the colorful autumn leaves in the mountains, as if nature has specially prepared a "palette" for this land. The "palette" of Huangling and the "ink painting" of Shicheng complement each other, allowing people to feel the vibrant and simple essence of Wuyuan while leisurely strolling.
Moon Bay, with its moon-like shape, the elegant Huizhou-style houses across the river, and the beautiful surrounding scenery, occasionally attracts three or five farm women to wash clothes by the lake, often stopping passersby in their tracks. It is deeply loved by tourists and has become one of the best photography spots for photography enthusiasts.
In Likeng, surrounded by mountains and water, with old trees and ancient vines, and clear streams flowing, accompanied by a gentle breeze, walking through the paths paved with bluestone slabs feels like being in a Chinese landscape painting. Even a group of ducks swimming under the bridge becomes the most lively scene in the painting.
In Wunvzhou, the Jiangnan water town during the day transforms into a heavenly palace at nightfall, as if it were not in the human world. Intangible cultural heritage iron flower, intangible cultural heritage fire pot, intangible cultural heritage bench dragon, fireworks show... are performed here in turn, with spectacular performances.
At Rainbow Bridge, this 140-meter-long "most beautiful covered bridge in China" seems like a rainbow crossing time and space, harmonizing with the green mountains, clear waters, ancient villages, and post roads.
Day 1: The autumn drying in Wuyuan is really beautiful.
It is recommended to stay overnight in the scenic area (autumn drying homestay, prices range from 600 to 2000 yuan, it is recommended to choose a room type above the viewing room, so you can see the beautiful autumn drying scenery by opening the window in the room), you can see the morning mist rising from the mountains and experience the tranquility of Huangling after the tourists have left, this is the true appearance of a paradise.
The visitor center at the foot of Huangling Mountain is also the place to check in for the autumn drying homestay on the mountain. You can directly show your ID card and reservation information to take the cable car up the mountain through a dedicated channel without queuing. It is said that even during the National Day holiday, when there are the most people, it is very fast, and the experience is excellent.
After reaching the cable car station, you can go down the mountain directly through the hotel guest entrance, which is fast. The electric car for the autumn drying homestay is parked by the roadside at the cable car station, picking up and dropping off guests to the accommodation location, with service staff helping to carry large luggage throughout the journey.
The building above is the room we stayed in, located on Tianjie Street in Huangling, and the wall of the house is a popular check-in point - the Patriotic Wall (it looks like the shape of a map of China, hence the name, it is said to be naturally formed by peeling). The viewing room we stayed in had a particularly beautiful view of the autumn drying scene when we opened the window.
Turning right out of the homestay, you will reach a fork in the road. The left path goes up the mountain to the drying workshop and viewing platform, while the right path goes down to Tianjie Restaurant, Photography Home, and other places. First, go left and walk up, and after a few steps, you will see a popular persimmon tree, with red persimmons hanging on the leafless tree, against the background of the blue sky and white walls, it is quite eye-catching.
Above the popular persimmon tree is a great viewing platform. The sunlight is no longer as intense as at noon, and the slanting sunlight highlights the layers of the picture, so the autumn drying effect in Huangling at four or five o'clock in the afternoon (of course, the premise is sunny weather, we were lucky, the weather was good for these three days) is excellent.
Above the persimmon tree is a building called Shende Hall. Shende Hall is an ancient building in the Huangling Scenic Area, built during the Qing Dynasty, and is the residence of a famous local scholar. This building is located in the center of Huangling Village and is a three-entry Qing Dynasty Huizhou-style building.
Above the left of the persimmon tree is a large drying platform, where villagers are peeling and drying persimmons. The dried persimmons are very sweet and delicious. Going further up, you will reach the drying workshop, a must-see for viewing in Huangling. Here, and the viewing platform behind Wugui Hall opposite, are the best viewing spots for autumn drying in Huangling.
Many postcards, magazines, and online photos come from here, but it is also the most popular place, and in the afternoon, you have to find gaps to take photos (photos taken in the morning when there are no people are much more relaxed). The drying workshop is a must-visit spot for autumn viewing in Huangling, showcasing the entire process of autumn drying, with three viewing platforms for appreciation, each offering different autumn drying scenery.
Outside the drying workshop, there is also a persimmon tree at the entrance, although not as large and fruitful as the one below, it is also very photogenic, and you can take photos at a closer distance. Inside Wugui Hall, there is a Huangling specialty snack - steam cake, worth trying.
Steam cake, jokingly called "Oriental pizza" by netizens, is a traditional food in Wuyuan and has now become a nostalgic taste for people. As a pastry, its special feature is that it is steamed using "water vapor." Try a steam cake, it is quite good, with the aroma of rice, wine, and filling coming together, the steaming heat is chewy, and finally, a slight fermentation sourness comes out, just enough to balance the sweetness.
Walking down from Yixin Building, you will soon reach the snack street on Tianjie Street in Huangling. The rural flavor food on the snack street in Tianjie Street in Huangling is dazzling: rice candy, grilled glutinous rice cakes, thick steam cakes, popcorn cones, candied haws, local tofu, grilled skewers...
The sky has completely darkened, and after having dinner on the food street, we wandered around the village. At this time, the ancient village of Huangling is lit up with bright lights, and the ancient village of autumn drying is colorful at night: the market, lights, water charm, starry sky, and nature are integrated, showing another side of its charm.
Without the daytime hustle and bustle, walking quietly in the early winter of Huangling, looking up at the starry sky, you will have a different feeling from the daytime. The starry night view of Huangling is like a beautiful poem in the sky.
The flower creek water street, decorated with flowers and trees, turns into a small Lijiang in Jiangxi at night: the pavilions and towers of different heights are lit up, the sound of flowing water is accompanied by cool mist, and a faint fragrance occasionally wafts through the air, like a fairyland on earth. Here, you can not only stroll through the market but also enjoy entertainment in bars, making it a great place for a night out.
