Lake Bled | A must-visit paradise in Slovenia, the most beautiful lake
It’s a Sunny day to come to Lake Bled☀️🌞
How lucky I am❗❗❗🥹
Head to the most famous and popular attraction in Slovenia - Lake Bled (Blejsko jezero)
Lake Bled is located in the northwest of Slovenia, close to the town of Bled and about 45 minutes' drive from the capital.
Walking halfway through the lake, you can see many people jogging, walking dogs, and fishing everywhere.
Bled is an ice-eroded lake created by glaciers. The lake water comes from the melted ice water of the Julian Alps and the clear springs flowing in the mountains. It is pure and pollution-free, so it has the reputation of "glacial lake".
Dining in a fast food restaurant, the wall says:
Don't leave Bled without trying it❗
"The original Bled Cake"
It was very interesting, so I ordered a cake to try it.
There are some little secrets that everyone must know: In order not to pollute Lake Bled, the flat-bottomed boats rely on "manual oars" by the boatman. The boatman stands at the stern, holding a long wooden oar in each hand to push the boat forward.
When getting on and off the boat, follow the boatman's instructions. The boatman will adjust the seat and weight according to the balance of the boat.
In order to protect employment in the Lake Bled area, we hope that more young people will stay and work hard in their hometowns.
Therefore, the role of gondola driver is "only" for local residents.
Looking back on history, the boatman on Lake Bled has been a very sacred job from the beginning.
I once heard it said that the most natural paradise on earth close to the Alps is ranked: 1. Switzerland 3. Austria 3. Lake Bled. One flag was planted today❗

The Allure of Triglav: Tales from the Trail
#nationalparks #100waysoftravel
Exploring Triglav, Slovenia’s highest peak and the heart of the Julian Alps, is an incredible experience full of natural beauty, folklore, and challenging hikes. Here’s a comprehensive guide and some tips for making the most of a Triglav adventure:
### Getting There and Staying
- **Access Points**: The most popular starting points for Triglav hikes are Bohinj and Mojstrana. You can reach both by bus or car from Ljubljana.
- **Where to Stay**: Mountain huts (doms) like Dom Planika and Kredarica Hut offer shelter and basic amenities close to the peak. In summer, book early due to limited spots. Camping is limited within the national park, so plan accordingly.
### Gear Essentials
- **Footwear**: Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots are a must; the terrain is rocky and often steep.
- **Climbing Gear**: If you’re planning on taking the more advanced routes, bring via ferrata equipment (helmet, harness, carabiners). Routes like the Bamberg Route require secure footing and hands-on climbing.
- **Weather Preparedness**: The weather can be unpredictable, even in summer, so bring layers, rain protection, and plenty of water. Sunscreen is a must as the higher altitudes offer little shade.
### Hiking Routes
1. **The Standard Route**: Starting from Bohinj or Krma Valley, this route takes you through meadows, forests, and then the rocky ascent to Kredarica Hut. The views along the way are breathtaking, and you’ll see glimpses of Slovenia’s verdant valleys.
2. **Bamberg Route (for experienced climbers)**: A challenging but rewarding route that involves climbing and a via ferrata section, Bamberg is perfect for seasoned hikers looking for a thrill.
3. **Seven Lakes Valley Trail**: This is a gentler alternative if you’re not aiming for the summit. The lakes are pristine and are ideal for a day hike or even a multi-day trek if you stay at one of the nearby huts.
### Peak and Symbolism
Triglav’s peak has a symbolic meaning for Slovenians, representing their freedom and independence. Legend says that every Slovenian should climb it at least once in their life. At the summit, a unique structure called *Aljažev Stolp* (Aljaž Tower) serves as both a shelter and a monument.
### Timing
- **Best Season**: Summer months, July to September, are ideal, with relatively mild weather. Spring and fall can be beautiful but present more weather challenges, while winter climbing is for experienced mountaineers only.
### Tips for a Great Experience
- **Early Start**: Leave early to avoid crowds, especially in peak season, and to give yourself enough time for the ascent and descent.
- **Respect the Environment**: Triglav National Park is a protected area, so take out everything you bring in. Be mindful of the local wildlife and delicate flora.
- **Enjoy the Views**: Take in the surroundings, not just the summit. The route offers gorgeous panoramas and small moments that are just as memorable as reaching the top.
Triglav is an adventure that calls for preparation and respect for nature but rewards you with views that are truly unforgettable.

A place with a panoramic view of Bled's landscape
Slovenia is a country where the lake area Bled is more famous as a tourist destination than the capital Ljubljana😆
In Bled, the most famous places are Bled Castle, where you can see the entire Bled landscape at a glance, and Bled Island, which you can get to by crossing Lake Bled!
I visited Bled Castle 🏰
When you go up to Bled Castle and look down at the lakeside, you can see the natural scenery of Europe at a glance, and it looks like a painting.. 🥺
Bled Island in the distance looks like a fairy tale‼️
Personally, the Bled Castle photo spot is the place where the Slovenian flag is! 🇸🇮 The large flag and the background go well together, so you can take pretty pictures🥰
Tips⭐️
- When taking pictures with the Slovenian flag, check the wind direction and take the picture! If there is no wind, the flag is drooping, so the picture doesn't come out pretty.. 🥲
- Slovenia's specialty is honey! 🍯 They sell various kinds of honey at the souvenir shop, so don't miss this 😆

Mesmerizing Lake Bled
On our way back from the city of Ljubljana, we stopped by the very picturesque Lake Bled early in the morning.
We were lucky as our group were the only ones in the popular tourist spot, allowing us to enjoy more of the beautiful natural scenery before more tourists arrive in the area.
After taking a thousand photos around the wonderful crystal clear lake, we sampled the bled cream cake and some hot chocolate (perfect for this autumn weather) from a cozy restaurant fronting the lake
—- allowing us to relax and enjoy our delicious fare while admiring such a magnificent view 😊🍂
This is the restaurant that every tourist is seeking out when traveling back to Slovenia. You'll find classic Slovenian staples here, very filling, heart-warming, good. I'd go so far as to say comfort food! Our meal here was well-deserved after climbing the stairs up and down from Bled Castle. The decor is classic gostilna style. We felt like we had a very authentic gostilna meal here. As you'll read in the menu, they make it a priority to locally source all of their ingredients. We went to Gostilna Murka and the menu offers a few different selections where you'll find "platter-style" entrees, so if you are looking to try a little bit of everything, I'd suggest these. We ourselves got the classic squid and potato, and creamy pasta, plus they gave you some sides to eat it with. We closed our big meals with a parfait-style dessert which was heavenly good!

Tranquil Afternoons: Rowing on Lake Bled's Serene Waters
#outdooradventure #slovenia #lakebled
Lake Bled is the perfect destination for outdoor activities, surrounded by stunning natural beauty. We spent a peaceful late afternoon rowing our charming swan-shaped boat across the calm, emerald waters of the lake, soaking in the serene atmosphere. Around us, others were enjoying water paddling, their laughter echoing softly across the lake. The gentle ripples created by our oars and the reflection of the iconic Bled Island in the distance made the experience feel almost magical. It was the kind of moment that captures the essence of Lake Bled — tranquil, beautiful, and unforgettable.

[Slovenia] The eye of the Alps! Lake Bled with its picturesque old castle
Slovenia is located in Eastern Europe. Lake Bled is a glacial lake in the mountainous region 35km from the capital Ljubljana in the northwest of Slovenia. The lake is so beautiful that it is called the "eye of the Alps" and is one of Slovenia's most famous tourist spots. Weddings can be held in a small church floating on the milky blue lake, and there is a superstition that if the groom carries the bride up the stairs in silence, they will be happy. However, the stairs are steep, so the groom will be very tired if the bride does not lighten his weight (lol). The observation deck overlooking Lake Bled is located in an old castle towering over the lake, and it is like an art museum and souvenir shop (admission is charged). There is also a cafe attached. It was a cute spot like something out of a fairy tale picture book. Lake Bled (Blejsko jezero) is one of the most impressive touristic sites in Slovenia, There is a small island called "Bled island" in the middle of the lake, built with a small church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary . The church has like a romantic jinx(legend) that a bridal couple would be happy if the bridegroom can get to the church lifting his bride in his arms. There is an observatory in the old castle lakeside, renovated like a museum, souvenir shop and cafe. #tripoverseas travel #slovenia #old castle #scenic view
Lake Bled - the emerald in the Alps
Lake Bled - This lake in ##Slovenia is like an emerald embedded in the Alps. Its charming lakes and mountains, quiet islands and historic castles bring us into an otherworldly fairy tale world.
#First sight of Lake Bled - the tranquil and poetic morning light
In the early morning, we set off from Ljubljana, and the scenery outside the car window gradually changed from the city to the greenery of the countryside. When we arrived at Lake Bled, the scene in front of us was breathtaking: mist shrouded the lake, and the sun penetrated the fog and illuminated the church spire on the island in the center of the lake. The entire lake seemed to be embraced by golden light. We walked along the lakeside path and felt the gentleness of the morning light. Every step was like stepping into a poem.
#湖心岛 bells and wishes
We successfully arrived at the small island in the center of the lake. The tranquility here formed a strong contrast with the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Climbing the 99 steps, you will be surrounded by ancient European style. The Church of the Assumption on the island towers into the sky, and its outer walls are particularly dazzling in the sun. We walked into the church and a steady bell rang. The "wishing bell" here is said to have magical power, and ringing it will make people's wishes come true. We close our eyes devoutly and let the bells float away into the distance with our wishes.
#Bled castle overlooking the lake and mountains
As the sun gradually rose, we decided to go to Bled Castle to explore the charm of this thousand-year-old castle. The castle stands on a towering cliff, overlooking the entire lake from here, as if you have a perspective overlooking heaven. We chose to have lunch in the castle restaurant on the terrace outside the city walls. In front of the dining table, the lake shone with emerald green light, and the Alps in the distance stood picturesquely still. We ordered a filet mignon, paired with a selection of local red wine, and enjoyed the romance and beauty of this moment.
After the meal, we tasted the local classic cream cake (kremšnita). This dessert is famous for its crispy crust and fragrant cream layer. When you take a bite, the softness and sweetness melt in your mouth, as if the sweetness of Lake Bled is condensed into this small piece of cake.
#Afternoon leisurely stroll-feel the flow of time
In the afternoon, we walked along the lakeside path and enjoyed the shadows of the trees and the microwaves on the lake. Along the way, tourists on bicycles and joggers can be seen everywhere, enjoying the most natural and pure leisure time here. The benches on the roadside became the best place for us to take a short rest. Sitting there, admiring the gentle ripples of the lake water caused by the breeze, time seemed to slow down here.
We also discovered several hidden small attractions: such as a small cafe near the lake, where you can taste a cup of local espresso and enjoy the view of the island and the castle. Every step we take, different angles of Lake Bled bring us new surprises. People can't help but sigh that the changing seasons here are all fascinating paintings.
#The poetry of the lakeside at nightfall
In the evening, the afterglow of the setting sun dyed the sky red and reflected on the lake, forming a golden glow. We chose to have dinner at a restaurant by the lake and quietly waited for nightfall. Lake Bled is even more mysterious at night, with the surrounding lights dancing faintly on the lake. We ordered a glass of local liquor and toasted to celebrate this wonderful journey. As the stars twinkled in the night sky, we slowly drove away, filled with reluctance to leave this land.
#The eternal charm of Lake Bled
The beauty of Lake Bled comes not only from its natural scenery, but also from the tranquility that makes people immersed in it and forget the passage of time. Every corner here is full of poetry and painting, and it is the paradise that all travelers dream of. We treasure this trip in our hearts and look forward to returning to this wonderland again one day to experience the never-fading scenery of lakes and mountains.

Slovenia, Lake Bled.
Located in Slovenia, Lake Bled is a dreamy lake that looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. The scenery here is irresistible. We started our journey from Ljubljana, winding through the countryside until we reached this beautiful lakeside town. Lake Bled is famous for its emerald green waters, the island in the middle of the lake, and the surrounding Alps, making it a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle.
We arrived at the lake on a clear day, and the morning at Lake Bled was serene and beautiful. A gentle breeze rippled the water, making the entire lake shimmer like a veil. Renting a traditional wooden boat called 'Pletna' is the best way to explore the island in the middle of the lake. While rowing, you can enjoy the full view of the lake, with the surrounding mountains reflecting in the water like a still painting.
Upon reaching the island in the middle of the lake, we climbed the 99 steps to visit the Church of the Assumption. This church has a long history, and the most intriguing part is the 'Wishing Bell' inside. It is said that ringing the bell can make your wishes come true. The sound of the bell echoed across the lake, adding to the sacred atmosphere of the place.
For lunch, we went to Bled Castle, perched on a cliff by the lake. This castle is not only one of the oldest buildings in the area but also offers the best panoramic view of Lake Bled. We chose a window seat in the castle's restaurant and enjoyed a filet steak paired with exquisite local red wine. After the meal, we were treated to Bled's classic dessert - cream cake (kremšnita). The light and creamy texture of the cake, combined with the crispy pastry, added a sweet memory to our trip.
The afternoon at Lake Bled was even more enchanting. We decided to take a leisurely walk along the lakeside path, enjoying the rare tranquility. Along the way, we encountered many tourists on bicycles and locals jogging. The path is flat and well-equipped, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. While walking by the lake, you can not only enjoy the scenic views but also take photos of the island and the castle from different angles, each spot looking like a postcard.
As night fell, the scenery of Lake Bled became even more mesmerizing. The lights along the lake reflected on the quiet water, creating a sparkling effect. We slowly drove away in the night, reminiscing about the beauty and tranquility of the lake. Lake Bled is a place that you don't want to leave, with every corner filled with stories and poetry, making it a gem not to be missed on your travels.
This trip to Lake Bled not only allowed us to experience the natural beauty of Slovenia but also to appreciate its unique history and culture. The beautiful scenery and delicious food here will become precious memories for us.

Paradise under the Alps~~~Lake Bled
Lake Bled has the image of paradise under the Alps. There is Slovenia's only natural island in the lake. There is an ancient Gothic church on the island - the Assumption Church (Cerkev Marijinega Vnebovzetja). You can take a traditional wooden boat (Pletna) to the island and climb the stairs to visit the church and bell tower. There are various restaurants, cafes and other accommodation options on the lakeside, making it a good place for leisure and vacation. As for parking, it is quite difficult. In addition to being expensive and often hard to find, it is recommended to take public transportation. Enjoying the scenery and taking a walk along the flat and spacious trails around the lake with complete recreational facilities are relaxing and enjoyable. Climb up Café Belvedere and overlook the panoramic view of the lake area from a height, as if you have entered a dreamy fairy tale world.

Bled castle, views from top is amazing
From the lake bled to this castle , a little hiking is needed.
There is a museum in the upper courtyard, where you can delve deep into the distant past of Lake Bled, from the early excavations and the castle to the individual steps of its historical development, and see period-specific artefacts.
The artefacts do not originate from Bled Castle, but are important for illustrating the residential culture in all the periods the castle has faced so far. A path leads from the upper courtyard to the castle chapel, souvenir shop and restaurant.
