Dec 14, 2024 National Museum of China☞Huishi Tiangong Second stop~Huishi Tiangong - Quyang Stone Carving Art Exhibition North 1, North 2 Exhibition Hall Quyang stone carvings are from the past, the present, and the future. ☞Double Pensive Bodhisattva Statue Base Northern Qi Dynasty, Dingzhou Museum Collection This statue is the base of a double pensive bodhisattva statue. Only the small lotus seat, drapery, and three dragon tails under the foot of the pensive bodhisattva can be seen above the base. The front of the base is a bas-relief of a Boshan censer in the middle, with two warriors on the outermost side. The part between the Boshan censer and the two warriors is divided into two layers. The upper layer shows four stories of the Buddha in the form of a comic strip, from left to right: Prince Siddhartha's birth from the armpit, the nine dragons bathing the prince, the Asita hermit divination, and the Deer Park sermon. The lower layer of the Buddha seat is a bas-relief of a guardian lion, a deer-headed Brahmin holding a skull, and a Vasu hermit holding a bird. Between the deer-headed Brahmin and the Vasu hermit is a kneeling donor holding a lotus flower. The left and right sides of the base are bas-reliefs of two deities, the left side is the wind god and the fire god, and the right side is the elephant god and the dragon god. ☞Standing Bodhisattva Statue Tang Dynasty, remaining height 158 cm, height with base 188 cm, base diameter 38 cm Excavated from the Xiude Temple site in Quyang County, Hebei Museum Collection The bodhisattva has a slender figure, wearing a three-layer necklace around the neck, a drapery tied at the left chest, a long skirt on the lower body, layered pleats, and the skirt is covered with exquisite and gorgeous necklaces, standing barefoot on a lotus platform, plump and graceful. The silkworm pattern on the neck, the luxurious necklace, necklace, and drapery on the upper body, and the magnificent and close-fitting long skirt give a sense of elegance and grace.
