Shijia Hutong

A surprising glimpse of life as it was decades ago. We took the subway and then found pedi-bikes just outside the station. The tour took about 40 minutes and wound through back streets to the Bell Tower. You see families living a very basic life, without running water. Hutong areas are where you can really experience China. See how locals live. Take a ricksaw ride to get there. This part of the trip I will never forget. Have a tour guide take you around and explain how the people of China live in these areas. This was such a unique little part of the city so in my own opinion it didn't need the Starbucks and other tourist magnets. #beijingtrip #urbanexplorer
