Yangloudong Ancient Town

Yangloudong Ming and Qing stone slab street 'formed a market because of tea', was established in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, and has a history of more than 400 years. It is a famous hometown of brick tea.​ Legend has it that a pair of young men and women who loved each other eloped to the foot of Songfeng Mountain. Their white horse turned into a sheep, and the feces excreted by the sheep turned into tea seeds, growing tea trees all over the mountain. The couple built a bamboo building at the foot of the mountain, with people living upstairs and sheep downstairs. Since then, people have called this place Yangloudong. Yangloudong brick tea is known for its reputation of 'Songfeng enters Yangloudong, tea fragrance surrounds Fengqiu, ancient rhyme Zhudong dawn, moon beside the stone man is thin'. Here has a long and rich history, especially known for tea, known as the 'hometown of brick tea'. Yangloudong Ancient Town plays a very important role in the history of China's tea industry development. Three hundred years ago, countries along the ten thousand li tea road took Yangloudong as their understanding of Chinese tea. This area of less than 0.7 square kilometers has gathered elite merchants from various countries such as Russia, Germany, England, Japan, etc., forming a 'China Big Tea Market' with a population of over 40,000. The town now has an ancient street mainly composed of Ming and Qing buildings. The main street is 4 meters wide and 2200 meters long, with several T-shaped alleys. The ancient street has a building area of 0.7 square kilometers, and the street is all paved with bluestone. Yangloudong Ming and Qing stone slab street can be called a miniature of the history of China's tea industry development. In 1996, it was listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit, and in 2002 it was listed as a provincial key cultural relics protection unit. In December 2010, Yangloudong was awarded the 'China Historical and Cultural Village' by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage.
