Zagreb The capital of Croatia, Zagreb is the political, economic, and cultural center of Croatia, as well as the largest city and municipality in the country. Zagreb is located at the intersection of the Adriatic Sea coast and Central Europe, and is an ancient Central European city. For centuries, it has been a center of science and culture, and today it is also a center of commerce and industry. Zagreb is located 122 m (400 ft) above sea level, on the southern slopes of Medvednica Mountain in northwestern Croatia, with the Sava River flowing through it.
